Sigh - Secure Rom issues with Windows 7 x64?

Recommended Posts

I have Windows 7 x64 and every other game I have works fine. Arma2 installs fine and I've patched it to 1.02 but when I try to run the program nothing happens. The securom CD icon spins on the screen then thats it. No error messages.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Well I have gone to <removed by Mod> and downloaded the cracked EXE and it works fine so yes it is a secure rom issue.

Nice way to punish people who pay for the game BIS. I've requested a refund from the mail order place and will be sending it back.

I run my copy of game without any secure problem on Windows 7 x64 and the second aspect is that the publisher protects the copies of the game, you shouldn't blame BIS for this.

I have the same problem.

Version 1.01 works, but I want the current version of the game.

If you find a solution let me know. I'm not happy at all that I have paid for a product that doesn't work without cracking it. Securom has been cracked already so why inconvenience paying customers

I sent the report to SecuROM support (file with analysis) and here is the answer:

"Hello.

After careful inspection of the analysis file and due to your error

description, it appears that the issue is not SecuROM related.

Please contact the software publisher for further support options related to

issues specific to the software.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Best regards,

SecuROM Support Team"

My opinion is that if the game works with the crack, it is a bug in SecuROM.

EDIT:

They wrote:

The most efficient way for us to assist is an analysis file for evaluation. In order to generate this analysis file, please do the following:

??????????????

I sent this file already in the first report.

Since last night I have:

1. Uninstalled the game and used the securom removal tool

2. Upgraded the firmware of my DVD drive

3. Done a cold boot and the DVD drive was picked up with the new firmware

4. Reinstalled the game

5. Same thing happens....

I have sent a analysis log file to Securom but I don't hold out hope as Securom seem as poor at writing software as BIS do! For one the analysis file tries to write the log to the root of C: which since Vista you haven't been able to do unless you are an admin. As the file wasn't appearing I had to right click on the Arma2.exe and run as an administrator just so the securom survey tool could write out the log file OK!

It's bad enough how many bugs are in the actual game, but having bugs launching it too makes me laugh.

Are you running daemon-tools or similar? Try disabling it as I know some copy-protection tilts hard because of this.

I'm running win7 x64 with the 505 DVD with no problems. Also, if the gamecopyworld patch works fine, what's the problem?

Using the gamecopyworld noCD patch with a boxed product of arma 2, will cause any problems or impact with CD key, or is it safe?

I do not want to be banned or sg. :(

Fade will kick in sooner or later in process and Your game experience will slowly degrade (in many ways You will not realize until the game is unplayable)

If you don't know what FADE is, you should try searching YouTube for "ArmA-2 FADE".

If you want to play without the DVD you can either get the Steam download version or play with the latest beta patch.

Bah your loss :j:

now I have a copy of ARMA2 and many huge, detailed, beautiful islands to explore and you don't :p

ARMA2 sales are still going (stream of players from 'that other game' :D); once they die down a bit/OA is release I assume they'll release an official patch which lets you play the game without the CD like they did with ARMA1.

Fade is adding CD-keys to blacklist or how it works?

Other question:

Which version of beta patch I have to download with using the v1.04 to disable securom protection

(1. Insall Game

2. Install 1.04 patch

3. )?

Thanx!

Any beta-patch will do, but I would suggest the newest one as a general rule. :)
