  1. ok. But could you please clarify, how the animation can affect on the image in this way , I mean the deformation of the image?
  2. Please look close up to the screenshot where the three foot troops are standing upon the hill and looking down to the valley. Have you noticed a huge disproportion in the left bottom area of the shot? I mean that there is a high-stretch distortion of the grass and the soldier's foot there. Yes, I've seen it many times in game when I was going down- or uphill in Arma series (&OFP AFAIR) it appears itself in its entirety. In my opinion this thing kills the immersion very much. I was really disappointed when I saw the first screenshots because the "feature" was there again. I wonder why this flaw can not be fixed and just going throughout all BI games? I guess, the answer is because of the engine's limitations. Moreover I think, just my guess, that it somehow might be connected with the fact that the first engine - the OFP engine had been written before the 16:9(10) aspect ratio became popular and later the developers had to convert everything from 4:3 to wide-angle view. This "feature" might be just collateral effect of converting. Since that we have it in each game. May be I am wrong about the source of the problem but, indeed, no way to fix it in the next game? Sorry for poor English, anyway I hope the main idea of thread is clean!
  3. I couldn't run the beta 58879 because of every time I launched arma2.exe from Beta folder I saw a black screen with some kind of progress bar and then the screen filled up with colourful noise and after that arma2 was terminated. I tried to run it under both WinXP64&W7-64 with the same unsatisfactory result. The original arma2.exe(1.03) starts well. my rig: Q9300/ATI4870 Cat 9.8/4gb RAM

    ATI Catalyst 9.7 is here

I don't see any improvement with this driver on WinXP64bit. However I have surprisingly found out that the time of loading hi-res textures has been shorten noticeably when I am using 9.7 on W7-64bit!
  5. I run my copy of game without any secure problem on Windows 7 x64 and the second aspect is that the publisher protects the copies of the game, you shouldn't blame BIS for this.
  6. In my case everything is vice versa - the game runs much more smoothly under Win7 64bit than WinXP64bit with the same video/option settings. My rig: Q9300@3.3\4870 512mb\4Gb .
  7. Without any doubts I wanna the patch come out the first! To be honest I've recently bought the game :-)
  8. My system: Q9300@3.01\ASUS X48\4GB\4870 512mb, screen res: 1680x1050, all settings are "very high", distance view=2006, fillrate=100% . I could hardly call it playable on WinXP64-bit with these settings because of there were the huge texture lags, freezes and very LOD issues. The lowering of the video settings gave me neither noticeable increasing of fps nor getting rid of the graphic issues I had. Also I tried it to run on Vista64bit with the same result. I've just installed Win7(64-bit build 7229) and I am totally amazed by the fact that now the game runs very smoothly(all the settings are as above mentioned), the average fps increases by about 15 - 25%, the most of graphical issues are disappeared or become less visible. I have no idea why this happened on my system but the total performance in Win7 is more better than when I'was running the game in WinXP&Vista! Sorry for bad English!
  9. Raechaer, I have the same flaw in Chernogorsk missions. The huge texture lag and such LOD of models totally kill the immersion into the game and I've had to stop playing the campaign. In the other missions game runs rather smoothly, fps is aceptable and the texture lag is insignificant. Maybe it can be connected with 64bit OS somehow? I'm looking forward for a patch which can fix the issue. My rig: Q9300@3GHz/4GB/4870 512mb,WinXP64bit, screen resolution 1680x1050, fillrate=100%,Visibility: 1600, all video settings maxed out (the lowering that settings doesn't change the situation).
  10. Beside low fps have you ever seen the texture lag when the proper textures will start to appear if only you have been staring the object for a while or even they will never be load in the proper way, for instance just a vague square instead of hi-res wall texture of a fence etc.
  11. In my case the game runs rather smoothly (23-35fps) but very rarely there were some freezes in certain "difficult" areas and it could drop to 17-19fps just for instant. Nonetheless, I found the average fps quite playable untill I started Chernogorsk mission. At once I had the considerable decrease in fps and the worst thing was that I saw the huge texture lags (2-8 sec.) and moreover some objects were not beeing depicted in right way even I was staring them for a while. I had to quit playing the campaign because of such the enormous texture lags totally kill the immersion into the game. The lowering of the video memory&texture settings does not seem to give me the wishful result - fps increased insignificantly and the lags still there. I never saw it neither in boot camp missions nor scenario missions which I've already tried. My guess is that it is some kind of malfunction of the game and I hope it will be fixed by patches or new video drivers in the nearest future. Go back to Arma I game I saw the LOD there but it was a short-time lack which I got used to see and and rather soon I stopped to pay attention to it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WINXP64/Q9300/4870 512MB/RAM4GB/1680x1050/patch 1.1beta/all=very high settings/distance view=2000/fillrate 100% P.S. The author of this thread made a mistake in spelling the name of the town, the right one is Chernogorsk.I suppose it comes from the shortening the russian words "cherniy" means black and "gora" means a mountain, the whole meaning is "the town of Black Mountain" ;-) Can somebody fix the misprint otherwise it's impossible to find the name of mission by using "Search" on forum. .....And sorry in advance for my mistakes in this post!!!
  12. Does anyone know when the demo will come out? I can't help crying when reading the first impressions of whose people who have already had the game. Personally I'd like to have my own impressions at the same time, I mean right now! As far as remember it'was said that the public demo would go with German release together... Sorry for my bad English I hope you guys understand what I am asking about!
  13. Nothing special, to be honest. I can highlight the main point of the footage: - you can't be a pilot in preview version, just a passenger - there are 3 parts in the preview version, they are two training missions and one scenario campaign - the fist training mission is to seize one small village on island. It's very simple because you don't need to command anybody, you just supposed to obey your commander leader and fight (it starts at 2:30). There was one trouble, the speaker says, they couldn't accomplish that mission because they wasn't able to call for the support to eliminate the BRDM. That script didn't work. They tried to destroy it from their weaponry and it was successful but nothing happened after that. That was the obvious bug and the mission wasn’t finished as it supposed to be finished. - the second mission is more complicate. The player is the squad leader of 4 marines. The main task is to seize&hold the township which is situated on the mainland part and it have been occupied the enemy before (it starts at 3:20). The player has to survey the map constantly to give his people the orders properly. On difficulty level “regular†the gameplay is still hardcore: 2-3 hits and you are a dead body. It's almost impossible to make a goal without calling for support because the enemies are too strong. - the most interesting is the part of single player company (it starts at 4:30). It is very impressive. The good plot, the tasks are not trivial and there are good cinematic effects. At the beginning you can't control the whole squad you are just machinegunner. The first is a stealth mission. The radiotraffic too huge and overflow (the very raw thing). The sunrise is the most impressive feature (6:00). It's coloring the world and make it alive. The second is nothing special, but the third is very interesting. There are freedom of operation and full control over your squad and also the possibility of changing the member whom you are fighting for (it starts at 6:35). There for the first time you can use the vehicles. In the author’s opinion the system of order commands is too uncomfortable and complicate, some things don't work properly. In the forth missions (it starts at 7:40) you are the commander of some squads of guerillas. They couldn’t accomplish that mission because of the guerillas didn't obey the orders properly. Unusual new feature is that you can ask a bot for instance about the weather and he might answer you something: "It's normal, but it is going to start raining". The whole impressions are most positive, the main troubles are connected with AI and system of order commands. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sorry for bad and poor English with huge Russian accent :-)
