monkman 2 Posted April 5, 2011 (edited) Does anyone have an issue with low volume? What I mean is with 1.59 my game volume is very very low...but with 1.58 it's nice and loud. What could be causing this? as I don't really want to go through the whole process of uninstalling ARMA2 and then reinstalling & patching. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. **Solved By applying the latest 'beta' patch 79600, I have now got full sound back again... Edited April 5, 2011 by MOnkMan
Maxzy 12 Posted April 17, 2011 Earlier there was an effect - if you standing near a tank while it shoots you become deafened for some time, but there is no such effect in 1.59. Is it a bug or it was removed on purpose?

ChaseHigh 10 Posted July 16, 2011 (edited) I've read through this whole post and havent found a solution. I think this is because my problem is a little different. I play Arma 2 vanilla and the sound works fine. Whenever I run OA; CO or any of the DLC I get no sound! This all happened after my computer shut off mid-game online. I was using the ST mod set. I unistalled and removed all mod folders and reinstalled and that did not resolve the issue. It has to be something to do with some AO file because Arma 2 works just fine. I have win7 64-bit. I use turtle beach x11 head set Realtek High Definition Audio Driver RTKVHD64.sys I've run dxdiag and it doesn't detect any problems I've set my speakers to default Every time I do the "verify integrity of game cache" action it always tells me one file wasn't validated and needs to be reaquired Edited July 16, 2011 by ChaseHigh Additional info

r20 10 Posted February 26, 2012 Does this fix sound stuttering when there are hundreds explosions at the same time (rockets)? Does this fix quiet radio chatter from others when audio control panel format is bigger than 44kHZ (only on OA/CO)? Please respond. I really need to know (so badly). BTW: I am using onboard crappy Realtek High Definition Audio.
bevo 1 Posted March 11, 2012 (edited) I'm having a really crazy sound issue. I'm using onboard 7.1, and it is making horrible super loud crackling sound in my rear speakers. It makes the game unplayable in surround sound. If I go stereo it's fine, but I can't stand to play games without surround sound. I should have added that this is on Arma 2. On OA I only get stereo. It says that my receiver is getting 5.1 channels in and outputting 5.1 channels but sound only comes out of my 2 fronts and my sub. My center channel and rears play nothing. Every other game I have works fine. It was all of my games on steam only playing in stereo, but I think I fixed most of them, now it's just Arma 2 and OA giving me problems. I should add I am running onboard sound through HDMI over my gtx 570 into a denon receiver. And for the guy above me saying onboard crappy HD audio. In all honesty that is the best you can run, if you have a decent system to run it through. A decent dedicated surround sound receiver is going to do alot better job then a couple hundred dollar soundcard. The onboard sound just passes it through without any types of weird effects or anything and lets the receiver do the work. The only problem I have is that Nvidia doesn't bitstream the audio, so my receiver doesn't tell me if it's DTS, dolby, or Linear PCM. okdante 0 Posted April 28, 2012 I see the old topic about this problem was closed, bug on dev-heaven rejected as user-side problem. Still I haven't found any satisfying info about what causes this difference in radio chatter volume between vanilla ARMA 2 and OA nor any solution. Changing sample rate in playback device preferences in Windows every time you want to play Arma is definitely not a solution. (The game should be able to take control of this automatically) And even with 16/44.1 sample rate the chatter is far from satisfying. (I have some acoustic engineering knowledge, but I don't see why the sample rate setting should cause volume differences (even if it empirically does) - normal could be eg. playback rate) But even if you change the ratio of volume of different sound categories you won't find the radio much more understandable especially because of the radio beep sound, which is most probably bound to radio volume ratio slider, is too loud to understand what follows. I run Asus XONAR DX/XD via DDL to SPDIF, had the same problem with Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro. Please, help. GcmBoy217 1 Posted May 12, 2012 - Okei. Im testing different ways to fix this problem, so right now i have reinstalled windows 7, and the first thing i did after installing the newest Nvidia driver to my GTX295 card, is to install the DXSDK_Feb10. Im now 2min from finishing the install of Arma2 from cd. Now that i have a fresh windows7 without any soundcard drivers installed besides the one who was brought with the install of windows, i will now try to update Arma2 with the 1.05 update. When this is done, i will tell if i succeed! Then maybe this will help you guys who have the same problem. wait for result. out,-- The guys on Bohemia suport said to me via. e-mail to try driver cleaner SW instead of Device Manager. It did not work for me. - If this does not work either.... The only way i can think out will solve the problem is to uninstall the DXSDK_Feb10. file, and after that disable the soundcard in device mangaer, and try to install it again. I have then tryed all possible-technical ways try this to work... ---------- Post added at 04:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:19 PM ---------- Mission completed :dancehead: This fixed the problem!! : - I reinstalled windows 7, and the first thing i did after installing the newest Nvidia driver to my GTX295 card, was to install the DXSDK_Feb10. - Install Arma2 from cd. - Now that i have a fresh windows7 without any soundcard drivers installed besides the one who was brought with the install of windows, i updated ArmA2 with the 1.05 update. - Arma works! Hi I am having the same problem you were and Bohemia Interactive hasn't responded to me on my other forum on the Steam forums. But I would like to know in detail how to do what you did could you explain maybe? I would be EXTREMELY APPRECIATIVE!!! :)
Dwarden 1125 Posted May 19, 2012 why You installing DirectX SDK ? You need install latest DirectX redist, as stated in first post (via "run as administrator") the problem is very simple, You don't have the needed library installed properly or at all the solution is in first post ... e.g. on my Windows 7 x64 Sp1 the files are available in (the file might differ in other OS) C:\Windows\Sysnative\X3DAudio1_6.dll CRC32: 3308382C MD5: EEE871CC4F5563FF8B3C8385B32B0C5F SHA-1: 940FD8C5A0CDA898E55C80B36B139D766ED7E126 C:\Windows\System32\X3DAudio1_6.dll C:\Windows\SysWow64\X3DAudio1_6.dll both CRC32: 46EF953D MD5: E763798CAD2A90B6AB61854F50CD47DD SHA-1: 419F2C98D2A3F419DB1B1E9B5F4F7C3B9B636C1D all 3 have buildnumer 9.26.1590.0 if that don't work the only workaround could be place the correct X3DAudio1_6.dll into same directory where ARMA2.exe / ARMA2OA.exe is ... but i suggest this as last resort solution

I have it in C:\Windows\System32\X3DAudio1_6.dll and C:\Windows\SysWow64\X3DAudio1_6.dll but I do not have a directory C:\Windows\Sysnative\X3DAudio1_6.dll, could that be the problem? Hope you can help me as I'm struggling badly!

Hope you can help me as I'm struggling badly! Just wanted to share my solution so far, Arma 2 is now running with the aircraft carrier intro, not played yet but wanted to post in case others are struggling. I put fresh version of x3daudio1_6.dll in both C:\Windows\System32 and C:\Windows\SysWow64 and then unblocked each file (done through properties) and gave permissions on all the 3 different users in my list, this made it work, it then gave me the same error message for a new file, d3dx9_41.dll, I did the same thing with this, delete the originals in both folders, update and unblock and then the game loaded. Hope this helps anyone else struggling with this.

SyntaxEUCLID 0 Posted May 20, 2016 I really hope I can get help for this, because I see this thread is almost four years inactive and I'm worried I'll never find a solution... I'm also not able to make a thread about this for whatever stupid reason. For almost a year, my ARMA II and ARMA II OA games have not had any sound whatsoever. My volume settings are perfectly fine and I've tried every fix I could find online, but no matter what I do, nothing has any sound - footsteps, vehicles, weapon sounds - none of it. I think that this might be the answer to my issues, though. I checked the AppData folder for both ARMA II and ARMA II OA, and I found this error: ===================================================================== == D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead\ArmA2OA.exe == "D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead\ArmA2OA.exe" ===================================================================== Exe timestamp: 2016/05/19 18:44:22 Current time: 2016/05/19 21:36:02 Version 1.63.131129 Starting process failed. SHIFT pressed during game start. No 'GameConfig'.cfg mods will be loaded! Error: Create XAudio2 device failed, error 800700c1 Warning: Audio device creation failed, attempt to create default audio: SamplesPerSec: 44100, channels: 2, bitsPerSample: 16 Error: Create XAudio2 device failed, error 800700c1 No owner No owner I bolded the important part - notice "Create XAudio2 device failed." I tried to follow the instructions given to me in the original post of this thread, but I received an error during installation that states that there was an "internal error." The error message instructed me to look at Directx.log in my Windows folder for more information. I did, and it seems like most everything was already installed. I'm beyond confused. How is this still a problem if I've got all the files I need, and furthermore, why would me having those files cause an internal error with DX setup? It makes no sense. any help would be greatly appreciated - thanks so much.
