ya the nvgs are a joke in Arma 2. Every time i play a night mission a have to use a m203 with flares just to shoot someone. they need to add thermals or fix the nvgs

I think everyone has this 'problem'. And it's most problematic if there are no skylight available such as moonlight. Keep in mind that NVGs in Arma are waaaaaaayy better than real world NVGs; i.e. not being able to fight with them using regular sights (you try putting your forehead on the center of the buttstock - not easy). At least not without IR laser which isn't even in the game. It completely replaces the need for special night optics. And the output is near limitless resolution and noise free (when PP is turned off).

The way to properly use NVGs as they are modelled in Arma2, is to get suplementary light. M203 flares or better yet, an artillery illumination mission. But no, most people only use arty for their bang.

ACE2 will probably get rid of auto gain as the only option, and let us adjust its power. But that will also make them far too uber powerful.

Illumination arty can be used when NVGs are not ideal:

Too many 'problems' of people not doing their research before complaining that something is broken.

It's a problem for me, but only in night missions that I used when playing coop with a friends. Night missions I created/played by myself were fine...and we both noticed the problem in the multiplayer games, btw.

You guys know that once you turn on the goggles, you have to wait about 5 seconds for them to start working right? They work great for me.

Look, to everyone saying they're fine, WE GET IT.

For me, NVG work fine in singleplayer mode. Perfect. However, last night in demo multiplayer, in any night missions I made, when I would zoom in with NVG on, the HDR would act up and everything would darken, so you could only see the stars at night. Zoom out, everything shows. Zoom in, black. It happened to me AND my friend.

I'll have to test it more, but don't assume we're all idiots who don't know how to work the game.
