Im extremely p!ssed off! (from the UK if that makes any difference) i have the same problem...got it from Play.com today, started instaling and at about 60% i get this: File copy error (CRC does not match). D:\Games\Bohemia Interactive\AddOns\chernarus_Data_Layers.pbo Press ok, and the whole instalation quits... What can be done?
easty 0 Posted June 26, 2009 Have a different CD drive you can try it from. BIS always use these massive files that are vulnerable to copy errors. I had the problem with the downloads, where I had to download on my vista 32bit then copy it across to my 64bit win 7 to install. Doubt it's a corrupt source, maybe just a picky media. The funnyist thing is if i had pirated the game it would be getting played right now :j: It's the BS of modern technology, their too much focusing on incorporating the cutting edge to sell it over the competitor that they don't get the basics nailed down very well at all. I mean my original Iphone is actually a f@cking useless phone comparable to my 8 year old samsung. They need a weighting system for their product.. No. 1 capability of the customer actually installing the game N0. 2 GAME RUNS BUG FREE N0. 4 PERFORMANCE N0. 3 Editor works I design aircraft and not sure if we would get away with a CRC Error during takeoff. Neodug 10 Posted June 26, 2009 Still not working!!!! And it worked with this drive in another computer
nodunit 397 Posted June 26, 2009 If that is the case then I would say something is wrong with your computer, try a defrag for starters.
Curly Hooligan 10 Posted July 1, 2009 I also get the error: "File copy error (CRC does not match). D:\Games\Bohemia Interactive\AddOns\chernarus_Data_Layers.pbo" But the rest of the AddOns folder after that file is also completely untouchable. I'm actually tempted to torrent the disk to replace the missing files, as Support recommended I install the game from hard-drive, but the same files that wont install also wont copy to hard-drive! I'm not sure what else I can do to fix it, but I've heard that replacing the disk is pointless, as it's probably my computer's fault, and that's from people with similar issues and there's also the fact that the disk works fine on my PC that isn't capable of playing it. :-/

Im almost certain that once you can get the files off the disk and onto your gaming PC's hard drive it will install from there.

That's what I started working on straight away. The PC had no hard-drive space, and it was my brother's, so didn't really want to dig deep into it, and my Dad's PC couldn't read the disk, so I'm using my brother's full Laptop, but transferring the disk straight to 16Gb USB Flash drive, and praying. If the files get snagged in that transfer, I'll have to risk a torrent just to play a game I've paid £25 for! Most of the torrents are missing a file too, and it happens to be one of the chunk that my PC doesn't like. I'll let you know how this goes, though. ---------- Post added at 06:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:45 PM ---------- Yes! transferred to USB fine, installing now, but can't foresee any more problems. EDcase 87 Posted July 1, 2009 EDIT: Good to hear... Check if there is a firmware update for your DVD drive. Hope it works for you. See you on the battlefield ;)
Curly Hooligan 10 Posted July 2, 2009 I managed to fix mine. I had to copy the disk directly to my Dad's 16Gb USB, on my brother's Laptop, then copy the files from USB to my gaming PC. Installed fine, now uses the disk to play. 25 FPS+ on Very High - I was surprised. Spent my first 6 hours on the Editor!
Neodug 10 Posted July 3, 2009 Still no luck for me!
icfhoop 0 Posted July 11, 2009 I have a question about this, how would I install the game from a hardrive/USB and not from the disc? MaxJay 10 Posted July 13, 2009 The same is happen for me. i had a spare drive so added it to my pc same thing happen. I`m going to try and copy it on my apple tonight and put it on my external harddrive to you think this would work??
mr_centipede 31 Posted July 13, 2009 About trying to copy to hard drive: If you select all files and copy it but got CRC error, try to copy that one file first to hard-disk. then another file, one file by one file. It's tedious but sometimes it works. Sometimes the PC can get frustrated too, copying large amount of files and got confused which is which... so help it a bit by telling to copy one file at a time. Usually happens with 1 very large file. Numerous small files usually okay

SheldonV 10 Posted April 22, 2010 (edited) Tried removing one stick of ram already, didn't work then either. The drive is working installed MS office right before trying Arma so it shouldn't be the drive. Have also tried shutting down Norton 360 & from loading from safe mode, separately & at the same time. **should have mentioned that I've returned one disc already and have the exact same issue with the 2nd so it's not the media either** roads.bpo is the first hang, don't know if it will be the last at this point. desertjedi 3 Posted April 22, 2010 I design aircraft and not sure if we would get away with a CRC Error during takeoff. I wouldn't blame BIS for this - chances are the media is fine. The key is finding a drive that can read the disk. This happens all the time whenever a new game is released. It's just another hoop we have to jump through as gamers. CD Drive TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S223F ATA Device Looks like Sheldon's got a very good Samsung drive there - no idea why there would be a problem. The drive is working installed MS office right before trying Arma so it shouldn't be the drive. That doesn't mean anything. It's new games that cause the problems. Even an old CD reader could probably install Office. What blows me away is that Neodug can install it with an optical drive in one PC but not with the same drive in another PC. I usually buy a new DVD-ROM drive every two years (for a whopping $19) but this doesn't sound like a case of old DVD readers.
SheldonV 10 Posted April 24, 2010 Aaarrgh!... this is really frustrating. Learning to hate windows 7 real quick. Installed another program, Company of Heroes worked fine (won't patch for online play mind you). Still won't load Arma2. Tried copying the files off the DVD to a flash now it quits at chernarus_data_layers.pbo... 4Gb into the file transfer..... and that's as far as it gets. Everything else transfers no problem but when it comes to the addons *PooF*.
SheldonV 10 Posted April 24, 2010 Ok, either the new the techie that just put my new HD's in and upgraded to Win7 made a boo-boo or my DVD burner is toast.... Loaded the game onto a 32gb flash and installed the game from there, worked like a charm problem fixed.
