Reversing Mouse Controls

Recommended Posts

Hi all, Ive just been flying some planes in game, and im not use to the mouse controls, because ever other flying game i invert the controls, I tryed to invert the controls, but it dose it for every thing too, like when you move your gun and stuff..

Is there any way just to change it for the aircraft only?

Thanks

konyo :)

I ws enjoying the demo quite a lot until I got to the chopper controls.

I persevered for a while - until I realised my inputs were having very little control over the craft.

I'm a newbie to ArmA - but I've had no problem with choppers in Op Flash or BF2 before.

One problem at a time -

- Can I actually invert the controls for aircraft without inverting my mouse for military? Its just awkawd

- The game auto detected a joystick and mapped the controls accordingly. One problem - I don't have a joystick.

I have a steering wheel and pedals plugged in with separate axises.

So the wheel was fighting the mouse movements.

Surely its possible to detect whether the device is a wheel or a joystick is plugged in and not assign controls for a steering wheel?

Solution for now - unplug the wheel while playing ArmA

- Auto hover on - I cant determine why the auto hover off option hardly ever appears after turning it on - am I doing something wrong?

Sometimes the only way to get out of auto hover seems to be to kill the engine and get it going again before you hit the ground.

- The whole shebang feels like one constant fight - with whatever mouse control fighting with the keyboard control - fighting with the auto hover.

Is there an auto return to centre - if I use x or c while flying in a straight line it seems to twitch back to straight ahead.

I have not felt like I was actually controlling the craft apart form altitude.

Does anyone have some good suggested settings for keyboard mouse control?

I too fly the JET aircraft in the correct manner (without a joystick!). Pulling back the mouse to climb, pushing forward to dive. I have to manually go into the options every time I change from flying jets to infantry. I keep the flight control untouched for flying helos - yes I'm perhaps a little wierd!

Is there an EASY way to reverse my pitch controls when I am flying jets that wont interfere with my normal control for helos or infantry ? Or do I have to keep going into the options?

yes, see above :)

go into the control settings and select aircraft. then find nose up and down (i think no.10 and 11 down the list) , delete the preset in it and drag mouse down and mouse up from the right of the screen into it. done. :)

So much better now,

- Reversed the mouse axis manually as suggested

- Unplugged wheel - and unassigned joystick controls

- Put pedals on a and d instead of x and c

- Put auto howver on/off on mouse button 4 (Since quick menu usually only gave me auto hover on - never auto hover off)

Still wants to go straight when I turn sometimes - but I guess thats just me using the tail rotor at to high speeds.

ok DO NOT INVERT THE MOUSE, DO NOT INVERT THE MOUSE, DO NOT INVERT THE MOUSE

if u invert it, than everything is inverted wich is not wanted.

there is a plain simple way to use the mouse for planes and helis.

go to options, go flying options to nose up and nose down, change the "mouse up" with drag and drop to "mouse down" and vice versa and just delete the wrong mouse action.

thats all u need to do, no invertings, no axis changings  no anything, just change mouse up with mouse down:bounce3:

im flying allways with mouse and its way easier for me in arma2 without joystick.

DO NOT INVERT THE MOUSE,DO NOT INVERT THE MOUSE, DO NOT INVERT THE MOUSE :D

@BernieTheEvilF1Ruler

i use mouse up and mouse down for nose up and down, and i use mouse left and mouse right to roll.

a and d for pedals , w for accelerating and s for decelerating.

i never need to use auto hover and u dont need it when u use the mouse bcause its really easy to hover with mouse and if u need sometimes to go on auto hover u just need to use mousewheel to select it so no need to "waste" a mouse button for it:)

i dont have a stick, just a steering wheel with pedals... the wheel is useless for flying of course, so i put incr. thrust on Accel pad down, decrease thrust on acc. pad up, bank left / right on mouse , nose down- mouse up, nose up - mouse down, pitch left /right on q/e.

works a treat. though i really wish i had a decent stick with a manual throttle...

Does selecting aircraft not also change the settings for Helicopters (which I dont want) ?
