Can we expect huge performance fixes in the future ?

Recommended Posts

The last patch was called "final", does that mean they are currently not working on further patches ?

Especially Multiplayer is a mess performance wise. Singleplayer need optimization, too. In MP I can set it to highest or lowest details with only 5 fps difference.

I played ArmA 2 with a HD4850 and now with a GTX 275 and there was almost no increase in performance. Still I can't believe that my 2x4GHZ dual core cpu is a "bottleneck".

All in all and comparing it to other games like Total War Empire the performance seems to be at least 50% under what is reasonable. Of course there is no real comparable game atm but you can see bugs and strange fps drops and ridiculous performance issues around every corner.

sounds like a nvidia problem tbh. guess you have to wait for a new driver or for tomorrows patch. other then that, arma2 is a gfx ram whore and even with 1gb card you can get in trouble.

It was called 1.01 final, in contrast to 1.01 beta.

I think it's going to take a lot of patches tbh.

As dvolk says, the only reason it was called final was because we got to test the 1.01 BETA prior to a final version being released.

Much later on is just not good enough. There has been enough time given already to get this game right this time round. I'll give patch 102 a go and then that’s it, I'll be joining the queue come the weekend. Then it's back to a free game called Project Reality that does rock.

Well, its not a MMO, so since your happy to go back to PR for a time, and in the case that A2 doesn't deliver right away, you'll be satisfied until it finally is optimized enough to your standards.

I too suffer the same 'lowest settings 22-25 fps- highest settings 18-23 fps' on my rig too, so i feel your pain, im just going to sit tight. Might have to DL PR in the meantime too :)

Hello there

A cursory look to other areas of the forum will show that in general they do patch their games regularly and fairly often. ( EDIT:--->but then again you are enquiring about A2 so why would you peek in the other forums? me=jumping to conclusions)

Also the "Final" phrase usually throws up problems with mis interpretation.

Rest assured there will be quite a few patches coming.

As to whether you'll get a huge performance increase....well, who knows? I'm sure there will be *some* optimisation but as to a huge boost, I find it unlikely.

But it would be nice :)
