Mark XIII (DayZ) 18 Posted June 21, 2009 Heya mate, Great work 1st off, I'll be more than happy to use your stuff when its out :) 2nd...Have you tried using minus db levels ? Can help with internal sounds..well it used to in A1 :) Anyways, I wish you success with the rest of your work, so far so good !
TangoRomeo 10 Posted June 21, 2009 Hi Mark XIII, thanks, going to try this. Other than that, transitions for some sounds are still a bit on the rough side, especially treads on changing ground surfaces. If only Arma wouldn't take so long booting up :/

archbishop lazarus 24 Posted June 30, 2009 Hi TangoRomeo! I have watched your videos on youtube, and I think your sound mod is very realistic, especially the BMP (I drove one a few days ago, along with a T-55 hehe...) Just a small advice: Inside a tracked vehicle, you dont hear any sound coming from the tracks, the engine suppress every other sound, except the intercom. The sound of the engine isnt clean and quite distorted compared to exterior.
Echo76 10 Posted July 1, 2009 Absolutely great sounds, those whining turbos gave me goosebumps :) Looking forward to get this mod.
TangoRomeo 10 Posted July 1, 2009 Work is progressing slow these days - temperatures are going through the roof - literally. Just as i type this, case temp is indicating 41.7 °C - case is open btw, and the comp is running just for about 30 min  Just finished assembling a sound library for the respective armaments of the vehicles, which i also plan to include. I´ve not yet decided if as a seperate module. Some sounds have been changed, especially exterior treads have been completely reworked and do correspond more to the actual speed the vehicle is travelling at. If i can manage, will post a video update tonight. @Archbishop Lazarus Do you have access to those vehicles, and would you be able to take a video or audio recording? This would be most helpful in creating a realistic audio environment for these! Although being a few years back now, from my experience with german AFV`s, tread-surface interaction is audible in the fighting compartment - the extend mostly depending on rpm/speed setting and surface composition. I have a high quality audio take from inside an M1A1 Abrams doing 15kph on a concrete pad, also an M109 doing a road march. Both recordings have quite noticeable tread sounds in them. When thinking about this, there would be several factors like attenuation of the Headset/helmet / spall liners/armor, location/type of engine, speed/rpm, surface composition, location of the observing crewmember etc. I´ve thought about simulating Headset/Helmet sound attenuation, but it made for a rather boring sound environment, especially for AFV/IFV passengers taking a ride in the back, with the driver pussy-footing the pedal. :D
Mark XIII (DayZ) 18 Posted July 1, 2009 I'm seriously looking forward to hearing this on my system, nice to know your doing vehical weapons too. Can I be one to say...please do them as seperate modules. I'm honestly not going to touch any land based vehical stuff soundwise myself after hearing this work. No need, I really like what you've done :) But..I will be doing the vehical weapons myself too, so call me bad but I'd like to use your mod for the vehical sounds and my own for the actual weapons :) Going on past experience most people switch in/out stuff they like or don't, which is why HiFi NA was modular in the same way by splitting the sounds up into the most logical groups. I feel alittle bad after reading that back and not even hearing your weapons (I'm sure they are awesome too :) ) but as a fella sound guy I'm sure you understand what I'm saying. Anyways, like everyone else on this thread.... I'm itching to try these out. Keep up the good work. P.s, If I can ever help you out with anything give me a shout ;)
TangoRomeo 10 Posted July 3, 2009 Just thought it over, and you're right Mark. If you like, i´d be more than happy to contribute what i´ve assembled so far in the weapons department, maybe you´ll find something usefull? :) I know there are lots of (good) sound mods out there; HiFi and Vopsound to name a few. Personally, while playing ArmA, i mixed &matched different packages. The reason being consistency. Some mods might have quality small arms samples, while lacking in the A/C department and vice versa. That's also a reason why i won't attempt to change every audio aspect of the game. Wheeled vehicles are on my roadmap for a future project. A/C`s were planned, but that was before listening to Robert's Heli sounds. If all audio people in here would join forces ... the product could easily be the best soundmod ever done for a game. Nearly forgot, here's short audio update. It's pretty much final, unless i find something unexpected, this is going to get released later today. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWIpEsXqrdc
cole 0 Posted July 3, 2009 Aw, now I'll have to refresh this thread every 5 minutes so I don't miss the release! :p Awesome man, just awesome.
TangoRomeo 10 Posted July 3, 2009 Don't do this :D Going to up it around 1700 CEST. Gives me enough time to apply Sun Protection foils to my windows and look over the package again.
NoRailgunner 0 Posted July 3, 2009 Hmm...missing the typical sounds of the tracks. They are bit low and engine sounds sound a bit generic but yt isnt the world best soundtool. Like to hear it ingame. :)
nikita320106 0 Posted July 3, 2009 incredibly great job!! but i missed tracks clacks too)) wait for final)
vo.2 0 Posted July 3, 2009 Have to say, this sounds awesome. Going to delete tracked vehicle sounds in my package and never touch them again. Good job.

archbishop lazarus 24 Posted July 4, 2009 (edited) TangoRomeo! Unfortunately I cannot record sounds, I have driven tracked military vehicles at a private company, its very-very expensive, and I dont have money for that for a while. I have driven VT-55, MT-55, ZSU-23-4V1 Shilka, BMP-1, MTLBu, GSP-55, so maybe I can give advices about these. I dont know how loud the vehicles you mentioned, but the ones I have driven are all extremely loud, you hear only the engine's roar from inside. Outside, the track sound are more audible, but only when the vehicle is moving slowly. When turning, you can hear loud creaking sound coming from tracks. Of course there are different track types, with different sounds for example, the VT-55 had RMSh tracks, which werent as loud as the older style tracks of the MT-55 I hope I could help a bit.:) EDIT: I have just watched your new video on youtube. I think this sound pack is incredible! Fantastic sounds! BTW, where did you find sound for T90? Edited July 4, 2009 by Archbishop Lazarus

If you like, i´d be more than happy to contribute what i´ve assembled so far in the weapons department, maybe you´ll find something usefull? Hey mate I'm totally flattered that you'd let me have a go with some of your sounds however I think we got our wires crossed (which would be my fault) :) Anyways, what I meant to say was if you could release your vehical weapons sounds in the same modular format as your vehicals it would make it easier for all of us to switch stuff around to the way we each like it, with RH's recent release each aspect of the sound is getting a work over and doing it this way makes it more flexible for us all ;) BTW I watched the new vid...I'm sitting here itching to have that ingame, good work!
