This game should be a lot more popular than the original ArmA, the main reason being that it's offered on Steam which is a huge platform. I have people on my Steam friend's list who bought the game having never heard of the original ArmA or OFP simply because they saw the trailers and screenshots.

Hopefully there will at least be some West Coast USA and Australian servers. I can ping under 200ms to those places.

i think the only problem with these types of games, is the maps are wayyyy to big and it can take 10 minutes to travel somewhere only to die and do it all over again.

Doesn't matter when you have over 100 players on one map.

Even if the devs or whoever says its a "Beta" i dont think it is cause it has plenty of content and not many major bugs. THe same bugs present in ArmA 1 also. German version is in NO way going to be different from American version, you can get an unofficial language patch, PM if ya need anything.

Good info thanks, I've been jonesing for a good tactical FPS for some time. I even checked out DFX2 extreme .... what a waste. I am very excited to try out the demo.

ill be playing this from good old florida USA, my only fear is that steam has opened the door for this game to be invaded by COD, UT, halo little kids. but if they try that stuff, they wont last long on the battlefield or atleast from what i heard.

AWESOME!!! If they buy it along with all the normal people who would buy it, more money for BIS which means more games and better support. Yay!!!

On a side note, anyone have any idea why they are releasing the NA version 1 week later than the UK version? Is this just another case of the publisher deciding to release it earlier than others?

OK, what i was saying was that the German version will not be different anyway from the english version, why you might ask? When the english version come sout BI will release a patch fixing bugs in the German "Beta" changing to to the "Full" version. BIS already stated that all "versions" will be the same. I'm not a newcommer either, hmm i been playing since OFP first came out, i got all expansions, and i got ArmA right away(I still got the demo too)and i got QG, then i got ArmA II.

Yea Arma and OFP are in there own category. I love playing Call Of Duty games as well, but nothing compares to the realism of OFP and ARMA.
