Debug Console for ARMA 2

Works fine for me in OA 1.57 using "ARMA2_OA_Build_76973". Guess you would need to be more specific than "does not work"...

When I press ESC, I don't see anything (compare to menu without addon). "Save" option is focused, so when I press Enter, game is saved. I don't use any mod.

Anyone else having problems now? Did something happen in a beta patch? Currently I'm able to write global parameters and running scripts see my change. But I'm no longer able to read global variables. Always outputs any, even if globalChat outputs correct. In this instance I'm using a camera flyby though, if that matters. I have to mess with missionNameSpace to get anything useful out of it.

Never worked for me in the 1.01 version. I had to stick to 1.0.

Hi guys, I just found some interesting commands for the Debug Console and wanted to share them.

I lost my saves due to trying to back them up and accidentally overited my campaign file =/. So to get back to where I was which was pretty far, after the Razor 2 mission, I messed around with different commands and came up with a few to help me get back to where I was quickly.

So I just figured this out. You can type...

endmission "end1"

to end the current mission with the best ending, or end2, end3, end4, end5, or end6. But even if you use end1 it will say you succeeded but the tasks will not be acccomplished and if you have 0 points it will still say 0 points, so I figured out to

type...

CurrentTask Player setTaskState "SUCCEEDED", with each of the task active and that completes each task.

I lost my saves thats why I had to figure this out, good thing i did and only a few minutes after losing my saves ;)

Also, some other handy commands are...

player setDamage 0 - Heals You

player allowDamage false - Give you Infinite Health

player setCaptive true - Not exactly sure but it fixed a freezing bug for me a couple times when my player got stuck

player addweapon "m107" - Highest powered Sniper rifle with double zoom

player addmagazine "100Rnd_762x51_M240" - Ammo for that rifle

player addweapon "rpg7v" - gives you the best rocket launcher, and you can even carry it at the same time as the High Powered Sniper Rifle which normally you can't. Make sure to drop any weapons the current mission gives you to begin with before adding your own.

player addmagazine "pg7vr" - This is the best ammo for the Rocket Launcher.

player addmagazine "pipebomb" - This will give you satchel explosives, Remember keep hitting enter for more : ) You can press num enter and regular enter together really fast to get a bunch or use addmagazinearray instead, but I'm not sure how to use addmagazinearray =/

Just thought I'd add, I acutally just used the - CurrentTask Player setTaskState "SUCCEEDED" - Command, and it does give a check mark on the task but it doesn't give you the points for completing it and in the mission after Razor 2 one of the team members said "Too bad we didn't get Bor-whateverhisnamewas" So I know that the tasks aren't being accomplished as far as the game proceeding goes.

So does anyone know a legitimate command to complete tasks so that it regesters in the playout of the game?

Have anyone successfully combined the two versions of the debug console? One won't work by default (you need to open it manually, esc enter is preferred) in multiplayer or store the expressions (which is extremely handy), and the other does everything except give us access to global variables (incl. named units placed in the editor).

Works great. Notice it's not persistent as the new one is, but anything is better than something that's just won't work. Thanks.

Any idea what caused global variables not to be returned? I'd like to fix also the original version, but sadly I don't have time to trace the bug myself :(

It seems to be some issue with the uiNamespace handling. Maybe an engine bug.

Thanks for help. I mistakenly called content of Check fields in uiNameSpace instead of missionNameSpace, so for accessing normal global variable, you would have to ask for uiNameSpace getvariable "myVar";.

Fixed now.

You might be interested in fact that debug console is now also part of Take On Helicopters and will be available during editor mission preview without any addons needed.

Community Preview gonna be released without it, but it may be added in the future for you to test. Meanwhile, you can use currently released version for A2.

TakOH might not have fully implemented 3D editor yet, but expect many other editor improvements ;)

Yeah I've noticed some improvements, like the new waypoint. Also a bunch of new scripting commands that looks more than interesting :)

Any chance of this debug console builtin also for Arma3? And if so, how to prevent hacker access? My thoughts revolve around only logged in admin (not voted) have access to the debugger, and notification sent to all other players if he opens it, and being a logged event in .rpt file. If addons enable the tool for non admins somehow, I don't think that is much worse than the cheat addons they make themselves where they don't even have to know the scripting language to misuse it.

Another anti cheat mechanism is to flag for other users (maybe only in the map units screen) all users with a dialog opened (functionality of createDialog command) which shows the classname. Duped classnames are not possible, mission specific dialogs not dupable, and addon based dialogs (unless sign checked) will be highly suspicious.

Suggestions on improvements if this is being worked on:

1) CopyToClipboard selected lines (shift for multi select lines) and/or selected text from the configViewer. Reduces chances for typos.

2) Shorten the lines showing parameters to make room for a new multiline one with a vertical scroller. We could use this one to display larger arrays.

3) Could be expanded dynamically to utilize the whole horizontal area of the screen?

4) Maybe add builtin support for the community anim viewer console?

5) Not sure what the 1-5 buttons are, but could be nice with links to files in the global script path, linking to files named 1.sqf, - 5.sqf, where I put my favorite script that I use a lot. But if script had a defined scriptName, that should show up instead of the number.

Also, there are some pretty good sound addon makers out there. Access to diag_toggle could be very helpful for seeing the parameters.
