maltod 10 Posted May 12, 2009 Hi, I've recently tried out the m16a4 acog rifle in the mission editor by equipping a soldier with it. However whenever i press the scope/sights key, the sight doesn't zoom! It's like the reflex sight only with the ACOG crosshairs. The m4a1 version of the scope works fine with 4x zoom. I just wanted to know if this is just me or has anyone else experienced this before? (i know this may be more suited to the editing forum but i think it has more to do with the weapon) P.S Is there a dedicated m16 rifleman in the blufor? It seems that all the soldiers either have m4s or machineguns. I've got ARMA v. 1.
hamis 0 Posted May 12, 2009 M16 is used by "resistance" only. You can edit zoom by copying values from M4 in weapons to M16 in weapons3.pbo.
Cougar 0 Posted May 12, 2009 Dont the marines in arma have M16A4 ?
Maddmatt 1 Posted May 12, 2009 First of all, are you running with any addons? They might be messing something up. Secondly, why are you still running ArmA v1.04? Get the patches, 1.04 is dated and a lot has changed since that.
maltod 10 Posted May 12, 2009 Thanks for the quick reply, the only addons i've got are the marine MARPAT units (http://operationflashpoint.filefront.com/file/USMC_MARPAT_Units;76619). I want to try to edit the weapons3.pbo but i'm not sure how- do i just open them in notepad?
hamis 0 Posted May 12, 2009 I want to try to edit the weapons3.pbo but i'm not sure how- do i just open them in notepad? First you have to download kegetys tools and use "cpbo" to unpack pbo's.Then use "unrap" to convert config.bin to config.cpp, then you can edit cpp with notepad. It is very recommended to download something better like notepad++.It is free and much better for editing,it shows different things in config in different colours and text format is much more clear and search function is much better. Alex72 1 Posted May 12, 2009 ArmA v1.04 wow man. Install v1.16b and you'll have yourself a much better game my friend. So many enhancements/updates/fixes compared to 1.04 that the list would be too long for the good old book even. ;) AI and performance plus bug fixing to name some that are heavily updated. Im not sure about the patching order up to the latest beta patch (1.16b). But i give you the list of them all. Make sure you check the order. Maybe 1.08 first and then 1.14 and then finally 1.16b, but im not sure. All im sure about is that you will love ArmA even more after updating it. maltod 10 Posted May 13, 2009 Thanks hamis for the help. I managed to get it working and now the acog is zooming like it should! I just bought the game from a friend so i haven't got around to patching it up yet and the files are huge: 227mb for v1.05, then 438mb for v1.08 etc, but thanks for the link. max power 21 Posted May 13, 2009 Then 1.14... but trust me, it's worth it.
desertjedi 3 Posted May 13, 2009 the files are huge: 227mb for v1.05, then 438mb for v1.08 Then don't go play The Witcher: Enhanced Edition...:DYeah, patch up to v1.14 at least. Who knows what problems you'll encounter at that old level. And the newer versions probably have much better performance too. I usually set up the M16A4_ACG_GL as the default primary in missions simply because I hate the aimpoint sight and I prefer the sound of the M16 over the M4 in HIFIFX. Binkowski 26 Posted May 14, 2009 I'd recommend patching like the rest of these guys, and if we're still having the problem. We'll figure it out.
maltod 10 Posted May 30, 2009 (edited) How long does the 1.05 patch usually take? - it says it will take a while and there's no way to cancel it- i have a 2.2 ghz dual core cpu if that helps I've updated it to 1.05 but it says there are errors in the weapons3.pbo. would this be because of me tweaking the ACOG settings on the m16a4? Does this mean the weapons3.pbo won't be updated? Edited May 30, 2009 by maltod
hamis 0 Posted May 30, 2009 Nope, you did something wrong.possibly missing something like ;,] or something else.Patches don't touch original files, but creates new "beta" folder. You should download notepad++ and check the lines you modified.Do you get some error msg when you start the game? xxbbcc 6 Posted May 30, 2009 That's wrong - patches DO modify original files. Only beta patches (like 1.16) create a beta folder so that it can be removed later on. You should revert back to the original weapons3.pbo and make your changes to the latest version of the file. I'd give you some advice but I don't know much about configs. maltod 10 Posted June 2, 2009 Hi, i took your advice and reinstalled arma, then patched to 1.08 it works fine now - no errors! thanks
