Guest Posted May 4, 2009 (edited) Release frontpaged at the Armaholic homepage. Irish desert units DPM Note: While taking the screen for our news I noticed very bad performance with just these few units only on the Rahmadi map. Is it just me? Jackal326 1181 Posted May 4, 2009 From the pic I saw on ArmAholic, there would appear to be at least one model that has DDPM material completely covering his kneepad. My advice would simply be to add the kneepad to the texture, as trying to copy-paste a new leg can be a pain in the arse nearly every time.

Driscoll 10 Posted May 5, 2009 Nice addon and an idea with much potential but unfortunately far from reality. Irish do not wear desert DPM in Chad (incl. their ARW). Reason for this is to make themselves highly visibile to local groups. See http://www.military.ie/overseas/ops/africa/chad/index.htm and http://forum.irishmilitaryonline.com/ (discussion board) D ;)
slatts 1978 Posted May 5, 2009 (edited) although yes i agree they say no i have seen this pattern in use in pictures and i think a youtube video were my idea of them being ARW,covered faces and the ford 350 XD set up media shot? possibly lol Edited May 5, 2009 by MyShuno
HydroPump 10 Posted May 8, 2009 This DPM pattern is very much in use. The irish use this pattern in afghanistan currently. Regular troops do not use this pattern, in Chad it was used by the ARW in the first mission. It was also in use in western sahara.

amurph0 10 Posted September 6, 2009 (edited) The pattern seems a little off, it repeats too much. I'd say making the texture bigger would fix it maybe?? Irish Desert DPM: http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/4921/7594367769a10249990080o.jpg Irish Desert DPM in Kabul: http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/1228/7594367769a10561232009o.jpg The pattern in the woodland troops is too small although it doesn't seem to repeat as much as the desert DPM. Increasing the texture size should fix that as well i think. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The PDF (full time army) use the Rabintex RBH303IE helmet. The helmet you have there is the old Orlite helmet, that hasn't been used by the PDF for a good few years and is only used by the army reserve. The Rabintex helmet is almost exactly like the american MICH or ACH helmet, leaving the helmet as the default american one would be close enough, without having to make an entirely new model. Helmet Pic: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/ed/Scanned_photos_024.jpg -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Also the backpack is off, the standard daysack used by the PDF is just a basic sack with one big pocket and a pocket in the lid with compression straps around the outside. Daysack: Much larger pics of daysack: http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/8756/7594367769a10678153201o.jpg (note the Defense Forces emblem printed on the back) http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/9178/7594367769a9923338787o.jpg -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's pictures of other pieces of equipment used by the PDF: Knee/Elbow pads + Goggles: http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/5318/7594367769a10678153245o.jpg Large Backpack the Lowe Alpine Saracen pack: http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/5461/7594367769a10678153165o.jpg http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/6670/7594367769a10678152646o.jpg http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/6844/7594367769a10678152692o.jpg Body Armour: http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/632/7594367769a10678152809o.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/d1/Scanned_photos_023.jpg I also have detailed pictures of the battlevest in use by the PDF, showing closeup pics of each of the different pouches and pockets on the vest. If have any questions about weapons or equipment or anything like that then just ask ;) Edited September 6, 2009 by amurph0
slatts 1978 Posted September 14, 2009 (edited) cheers for the info the models were made by another guy before most but not all this gear was used nice find on the troop in kabul, been looking for one like that once my pc-9 model is done i might try update this guys for arma2 in woodland only all i changed really was the woodland to desert and added two new weapons EDIT that pic of the desert shirt is all i could find at the time so thats why it is off :) Edited September 14, 2009 by MyShuno
sander 14 Posted September 14, 2009 Perhaps the following link can be of use, as it shows a much larger part of the pattern, repeating itself vertically, if not horizontally: Irish desert camouflage Regards, Sander
amurph0 10 Posted September 14, 2009 (edited) Two more samples of both DPM's from the same site as what sander suggested, although their both smaller. 20cm x 20cm sample of Irish Woodland DPM: http://camo.henrikc.dk/ireland_dpm_pattern.jpg 20cm x 20cm sample of Irish Desert DPM: http://camo.henrikc.dk/ireland_desertdpm_pattern.jpg Knowing that both are 20cm x 20cm should make it easier to find out how big the pattern should look on the uniform. Edit: If anyone has any experience in image editing maybe they could change the larger Desert sample into a Woodland one??? That may be an option Edited September 14, 2009 by amurph0
slatts 1978 Posted September 15, 2009 thats the desert pattern i used albeit a different pic just that i didnt have any whole uniform pics at the time so i had to use small sections which is why its outta place
Col. Faulkner 0 Posted September 16, 2009 ...the marksman now has a L96 A trivial nitpick, but don't omit the "A" number when describing British L-series stores. It's L96A1. Strictly, there's no such thing as an "L96". :)
slatts 1978 Posted September 16, 2009 (edited) hehe nitpick is right ^^ i just hit in L96 since im lazy and it shows in these guys :D EDIT: got the temperate models form stalker the back pack is the same as the real one just with the added pouches it looks different so i moved a few things around and added the american style helmet just the body armour and the pain in the behind configs, textures, and other stuff that goes into it :( Edited September 16, 2009 by MyShuno
