rellikki 7 Posted November 6, 2009 I do apologise for that, it's my mistake and I might cange it if I have time, but a map isnt so important as the island it self so it will have to wait It's a very detailed looking island, nevertheless, and I appreciate your effort you've put into it. Many new buildings and objects and features never seen before in OFP. You've even situated it in a real world location, making it feel even more realistic, and hell, even with its own currency and language. Once released, I'm sure it'll be one of my favorite OFP islands ever. It looks like it would offer some interesting urban fights. :) Keep it up.

Thanks Rellikki :) The capital city is very big but frames rates don’t drop a lot so urban fights are possible, if you still take care of ofp.info you can put this in the news section if you got time please :) Edited November 6, 2009 by -Martin- Fixed spelling
-martin- 10 Posted November 8, 2009 Hey guys, here are some new screen shots :) These are some typical czech "Äinžák" buildings from the 1950's. I made them using the textures from the town hall on Nogova. They will occupy the Southern area called "Slovane (SLavic)" of the capital city Sabina, there is a also a tram (streetcar) that goes in that area, I plan to make a video later this week if everything is ready, anyway here are the screenies, tell me what you think. rellikki 7 Posted November 8, 2009 Looks very good. Reminds me of the buildings in Chernarus in Arma 2. Will the buildings be enterable at least partly?
-martin- 10 Posted November 8, 2009 Looks very good. Reminds me of the buildings in Chernarus in Arma 2. Will the buildings be enterable at least partly? Well if you guys want to I will make them partly enterable but not in the beta :) As for Chernorus I never really explored the island too much so I don't know :) But yeah BIS kind of bases all their islands on the Czech Republic so it does look similar :)

rellikki 7 Posted November 8, 2009 Making the buildings partly enterable alá BIS Nogovan apartment buildings would be good and offer some some mission making abilities and place for cover in gameplay. Modeling every single room though might be perfomance demanding and a very hard job, but I assume you didn't even think about doing that. :p

Modeling every single room though might be perfomance demanding and a very hard job, but I assume you didn't even think about doing that. I did think about doing that as I made other buildings enterable, the trouble is each of the buildings is around 10 000 points, and if I make more of them, e.g. every room the OFP limit will be reached and then in game the buildings look destroyed and all over the place, if you know what I mean :)
33BO11OF00 10 Posted November 8, 2009 -Martin- What this points in buildings mean? Tell me that.
-martin- 10 Posted November 8, 2009 -Martin- What this points in buildings mean? Tell me that. Points are like joints, for example if you make a square it has 4 points (the corners) that are joined up to make a face (polygon) on to which a texture is applied. If you make a cube it has 8 points that are connected together, to create the sides of the cube which are later textured and become what you see in game :) By the way, you guys don’t have to write "-Martin-" with those lines "-" I just put those because another user already has my name on these forums :)
sanctuary 19 Posted November 8, 2009 (edited) Example : in a 3D model here are by example 4 points (also called vertices) : With those 4 points you can create 1 face (quads) : Or 2 faces (tris) : A cube in 3D is 8 points and has 6 faces (quads or quadrilaterals) or 12 faces (tris or triangles). often when you read a model has X polygons, it is refering to its amount of faces. See those tutorials to know more about O2 modelling : http://ofp.gamepark.cz/_hosted/brsseb/tutorials.htm Note : i remember having read somewhere on these boards that binarizing a model (optimising it for the game engine) will change all the quads into tris. Was this true ? edit : beat to it by Martin ;) Edited November 8, 2009 by Sanctuary

I don't think so, it never happened to me, well I cant open a binarised model in Oxygen so I have to save it using ODOL Explorer and when I do that the model looks exactly the same, unless ODOL Explorer changes the tris back in to quad's which I doubt:laugh: edit : beat to it by Martin EDIT: But your post is much better :)

Fuzzmaster 21 Posted November 13, 2009 The view looks really nice, I can't wait to use that island. By the way, I have one suggestion: maybe you already use it but I think it would be a good idea to use the nature pack made by Berghoff : http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=9788 Anyway, keep up the good work :)
