soul_assassin 1750 Posted February 4, 2009 Serious insecurities about the polycount
sparky 0 Posted February 4, 2009 you don't need to worry about it. we will give the polycount after the release, we don't want to do it know, in order to avoid the whining. As i said nobody from those who have BETA tested complained about performance issues. After all we want to create addons that can fullfill standards for ArmA2 also. Now here is something Else to Consider A lot of people in this thread, but also in previus threads, have requested to make US and RACS completely standalone. We want to make the community happy, but we must inform you about this. Splitting and recreate the Air vehicles of HWM (ah64/uh1h) will require more HDD space. US (UH1H/ah64A) completely standalone = 240 MB (aprox) RACS (UH1H/ah64A) completely standalone = 240MB (aprox) Greek (UH1H/ah64A) the same way as distributed till now (without us/racs version) = 200 MB (aprox) the previus are uncompressed pbos. now for somebody that wants to have them all do the math. In the way we did it so far the required space would be around 300 MB for all of them. so we would like to ask Do you really want this? cause we don't want to hear after the release even the smallest whinining about bandwitdh/needed HDD space. kasrkin85th 1 Posted February 4, 2009 my vote goes for all in one, please.
manzilla 1 Posted February 4, 2009 Me too. All in one is the way I like it.
suhsjake 1 Posted February 4, 2009 I would say splitting it is probably the way to go, becuase not everyone is going to use the Greek and RACs or they are going to use the RACs, but not the US and Greek, so on and so forth. Yes, it would take a lot of space, but in the end you are more than likely going to have to split them, becuase you keep making so many different variants and variations, which is well appreciated by the community. Â Thanks to the HWM team, we have hi def Hueys and Apaches for the US and RACs. Keep up the good work HWM team.
lee_h._oswald 0 Posted February 4, 2009 Normally I would say, split the "addon". But I think I will use them all, so if you want, put them all in one .pbo. Grrrrrreat helicopters! MfG Lee
xnodunitx 0 Posted February 4, 2009  Serious insecurities about the polycount  Considering the polycounts of standard Arma infantry and that you can play them in missions by the 100's there is nothing to worry about, it's been proven that polygons<normal maps in terms of resource consuming, so having certain details by polygon is actually better for you. I would go by, for now whichever PBO would be smaller, get an idea of how this works and wether or not problems arise from it on everyone elses end in case you decide to make a Delta or other national A's such as for example Israel. Also on a bit of off topicness I apparently had a dream about your helicopter and woke up with a nosebleed.
Wardog26 0 Posted February 4, 2009 i'm going to use all of them probably cause i'll be using greek, Italian, Switz, etc basicly like a EU battle =) so stick em all together
shadow 6 Posted February 4, 2009 With only 60MB difference between a single pack and all of them I dont see why anyone would split them up, but thats just me.

I mean in the end its just interesting to me is it in the 10000's or 30000's? Im really not bashing anyone just asking :P. I think the model looks fantastic and its interesting to me as a modmaker what polycount it has cuz if its truly non-performance hitting then everyone who makes models can also bump their polycounts. manzilla 1 Posted February 4, 2009 Tastes great! No no no no... Less filling! Yeah shadow has the right idea imho. It seems a little silly to fill up approximately 700mbs of space for people that want to have all 3 just so someone who wants one can save 60-100mbs. More importantly then our hard drives should be the time of the HWM team. The more time they spend just making stand alones the less time they have for themselves and others or updating/creating other content. I'd say do what's best for you guys. Just knowing there's people out there doing this kind of stuff for little more then appreciation is good enough for me. What ever form they take will ultimately not matter that much to me. Just having some new toys is good enough for me.
Wardog26 0 Posted February 4, 2009 in a future release (update) will there be Flares for it?
manzilla 1 Posted February 4, 2009 in a future release (update) will there be Flares for it? Well if they haven't done this yet and are considering implementing them, I'd suggest at least looking at the RKSL Flare system for integration. I realize people may have a problem with the dependency issue but the system the RKSL crew has made is stunning. If not, since XEH compatibility will be included, we can just add zGuba's, etc. I currently zG's with the Huey's and they work great.
Αplion 1122 Posted February 5, 2009 ...regarding any system implementation made by other addon/mod makers, please be advised that this is not ... lets say ... our style We respect anybody work and we prefer to do our best in order to create unique futures in our work. Now about the flares issue ... we are working on that but I can't tell right now if it will be included in this release or not ... lets keep it either as suprise or ... I'll just let my team-mate xSparky to speak about it
kasrkin85th 1 Posted February 5, 2009 I hope we get that thing soon i felt in love with it since first news/screens and i´m completly nervously but back to topic.....who needs flares when you have a big building or a hill between you and the SAM?
Αplion 1122 Posted February 5, 2009 Regarding release date ... lets say that ... we are really close
xnodunitx 0 Posted February 5, 2009 I hope we get that thing soon  i felt in love with it since first news/screens and i´m completly nervously but back to topic.....who needs flares when you have a big building or a hill between you and the SAM? Well that depends on wether or not you have LOAL and LOBL capability, otherwise you'll still need to raise up, fire then lower again in which case if the sam is missile based and has already spotted you then you may be in a bit of a pickle.
Wardog26 0 Posted February 5, 2009 So it's going to have LOAL and LOBL capabilities?  sweet just like the mapfact LOAL and LOBL for their apache   that's certainly a BIG MUST for an apache or any gunship. and am looking forward to the close release!

Wardog26 0 Posted February 8, 2009 it would be nice if you could add radio voices in it well like XAM right =) and it just takes some voices from youtube or liveleak and just plays randomly while in flight? it would be nice if it could be as an update but if not it's alright best apache ever for arma.
