Przemek_kondor 14 Posted December 17, 2008 Hi, I have started creating island and I see I will finish it propably after Arma2 release. So I want it to be worked in Arma2. Somebody from BIS said that Arma1 content won't be attached to Arma2. 1. Does that mean we won't open old island projects in new Visitor? Will we have to put all objects (trees/buildings/etc) once again? Or will be there function "replace" (for non loaded addons)? (I see .pew files can't be rewrited by text editor.) 2. I have seen no bridges on screens/videos and sat map of Chernarus looks like there no any (in Arma1 bridges caused many problems so maybe they were cut off). Are there bridge objects in Arma2? .kju 3245 Posted December 17, 2008 Apart from A2 part. You can export your terrain as XYZ from v3, as well as all objects via the object export script from v3. So as long as ArmA2 / v4(?) will have import again, this should not be a problem. I guess the community will port all A1 content to ArmA2 anyway.
Jensen1 0 Posted December 18, 2008 I hope we can port the islands from ArmA1 into 2... But on a sorta OT note; I also hope we dont get the same amount of re-skins this game had
mr.g-c 6 Posted January 30, 2009 What i would wishing for would be some Sort of "Auto-Converter" for Sahrani/South-Sahrani - as a Gift from BIS for the fellow Arma1 Community. So it could Auto-replace "Building A" from Sahrani with "Building A" from Chernarus. Same with "Treetype A" from Sahrani with "Treetype A" from Chernarus. So we could have a modernized Sahrani in no-time - only someone could then optimize the Sat-Texture/other Ground Textures a bit and we would have Sahrani in Arma2..... EricM 0 Posted January 30, 2009 I think finding an equivalent of northern sahrani vegetation shouldn't be a problem, as it's european-like just as Chernarus, but it would be cool if BIS added a few palmtrees and mediterranean vegetation in the mix for South Sahrani, Avgani and other "desertish" maps. With the level of quality and optimisation of the new vegetation, the old one might just look out of place...
rip31st 98 Posted February 22, 2009 One would think it would boil down to what BIS keeps in proper paths as to what you can use without changing paths to objects. OR lack thereof(arma objects). I suppose if they have all new foilage and you want to convert\import older objects, you would put it in a folder inside arma2 and change the paths. I believe that can be easily done in the visitor settings. After that it's just a matter of putting the plants/buildings pbo's in the proper places. You can bet the work I've sank into Normandy will work just fine in ArmA2.
