Satchel used more than one sound for certain events, then put in a probability of hearing them to add variation, he also added some sounds for actions that originally didn't have sounds, those wouldn't be heard if the sound addon was purely in pbo form smile.gif

I think that's right, someone can correct me if I'm wrong smile.gif

You are correct sir. In the next version, I'd also like to add different sound events for different things being destroyed. I.e. running over a sandbag won't sound like demolishing a house. Again, not possible using a stock sound.pbo

One question: Does the Dynamic Range Sound mod decrease your gaming performance? My system is a little slower, since I installed it. Or is there any way to improve this, without losing any sounds?

My specs:

PIII 600Mhz

256 MB RAM

Hercules 3D Prophet 4500 TV Out (64 MB) Kyro II

Soundblaster Audigy gamer

Win 98 SE

You, my friend, need a faster rig. Some more RAM wouldn't hurt. That CPU needs some replacein' and your video card isn't helping.

Not trying to poke fun at your box or anything, I'm just shocked that you can play the game effectively at any decent resolution with what you have.

Since Satchel added different sounds that play for the same event, this could be causing the slowdown you mentioned. For example I believe he used 3 or 4 different sounds for grenade impacts alone.

If you have some spare cash lying around, I'm very adept at finding excellent deals on new comp hardware and would be happy to tell you what options you could go with. (If you don't already know or are aware of the upgrade paths).

Good luck!

Has anyone created a .cpp file that will allow you to run the soundpack on a v1.49 server without constant CTD's? 1.46 servers work perfectly but 1.49 won't have it for some reason. sad.gif

I can't play OFP without Dynamic Range! I just can't!
