Ah ok, i was not sure about the meaning of "high ready" .

Good point, hopefully i should manage to add something like this, i will see what i can do for next betas.

I am pretty sure it works differently in both WGL/Jungle Fever than this :

In WW4 when you run you are by default running with the weapon pointing low, but when you press fire the animation change into the weapon shouldering while running, this for each 8 directions.

It will go back in pointing low if you tap the "turbo" key once always when running (as if you let the turbo key pressed, you will sprint).

I don't remember this feature present in any released mod, if so it would have simplified my work a lot, as i spent an insane amount of time to find a way to implement the new animation states in the config so it could actually work without bugs, thanks to Fab precious hints.

I don't understand this. If you fire while walking wouldn't you shoot into the ground when the weapon is pointed downwards? Or do you mean your animation recognizes when the player is firing and adjusts the animation so that the gun points parallel to the ground? huh.gif

I thought the animation has nothing to do with you pressing the fire key. As I understood it, STGN was talking about an animation for when you press the "f" key (standard keymapping) for walking while being crouched with "q" key. In the Ofp standard animations there is no crouched walk. You can either move forward proned or standing.

No, this is what i and STGN mean :

-Start OFP with WW4 anim mod

-Start the mission editor

-Place yourself on desert island

-Preview

-Do nothing else, but just move forward and leave this key pushed.

-Your soldier will then do a jogging, and his weapon is pointed down.

-Now with your mouse , always while you are jogging, press fire

-The jogging with weapon pointing down will transform into jogging with weapon shouldered.

-You can stop pressing fire, but continue to have the move forward key pushed

-Now just tap the turbo key once

-Your soldier will now point down his weapon.

As far as i know that's a feature no released mod is featuring yet and for now totally new in OFP.

But this for now is occuring only for the stand jogging. What STGN asked if i understand well is if i could do the same for the crouched jogging.

There is no walking animation involved in this discussion

What's new since beta 5 :

-several animations tweaked, it seems that minor fixing them is a never ending task, each beta i see more frames needing repairs. But the animations are getting better in each beta, so who would complain ? certainly the best overall anim work i ever did.

-Added a new intro for desert island, so it is playing when you launch OFP.

This intro is using Mandoble awesome particle script, i think this to be an even better way than a "credit.txt" unfortunately none ever read to give credit where it is due, just see.

And hear lol biggrin_o.gif

-A surprise, it is not yet complete, but there is far enough of it inside for you to have some fun, i do not reveal what it is but it will be very obvious when playing with beta 6.

I know very few people actually play OFP but feedbacks and bug report about this addition appreciated, anyways it remains beta and so subject to updates and changes.

Soon there will be an addition to the modder ressources, but don't yet hold your breath modders, it may take some days, as with the end of the year finding some free time that i am willing to spend in front of a computer is now more difficult.

As usual, this is beta so use it at your own risk, and all the content may or may not change for the final version, always planned somewhere near 2012 wink_o.gif

Just a little sentence from me Sanc, remember to add HD just like in GRAA, I have experienced that it adds a lot to gameplay.

I must say that with GRAA I was supressed for 1 min behind wooden barn. biggrin_o.gif

But... You have to do some limitations due to climbing because I think only Chuck Norris can climb over air.

Certainly if you have never tried the mod before, finding the surprise "new addition" to the mod may be difficult biggrin_o.gif. But it is obvious as it is something that was not there at all in previous betas and was not announced.

Anyways, i will remove the climbing from the crouch+turbo+move back key combination in the next beta, after testing it is way too easy to launch the animation by mistake and so getting stuck for few seconds during a combat situation.

During a firefight you often go into crouch stance to offer a smaller target and often to move to a better cover i noticed that i often pressed turbo and sometime despite it has no use (because you don't move faster) got into turbo+move back key combination by reflex.

I will keep the move over (stand+turbo+move back) as in a firefight i did not noticed myself pressing those key in the middle of the action, and so mistakes should not happen by reflex there.

I think i will pull that climbing feature to the weapon in back (in the mod the patrol stance) and move back+turbo, this way it will be less easy to launch the climbing by mistake.

Whooa Sanctuary this is smart.  I loved your previous anims that I noobily overwrote my original anim pbo by mistake (back in the day).  Anyway, love this, great job.

That's good! In ofp before climbing on ladder character is going to wep on back stance, so why not before climbing over a wall? biggrin_o.gif

I suggest to do all the climbing ups under patrol stance.

I have few questions.

1. Why this mod is called ww4? Is it world war 4? if so, why not 3? biggrin_o.gif

2. I see that beta 6 is year 1985, hope for that in final!

3. Is it going to be a full mod, something like ffur?

I hope not because SLX and new physics can lagg trully... ;/

Do you reckon it would be possible to keep the rifle upright for leaning? That would be totally rad, and probably a bit more realistic too.

I find it disorienting when your view rolls when leaning in fps games, because you have no inner ear to tell which way is up as IRL. Also tilting a rifle is no good if you want to hit anything afar accurately due to the displacement of sights and barrel.

.. about the climbing anims, I'd rather link them to the objects so you couldn't do them as a pantomine performance. Similar to actions appearing on ladder, and use playMove to have the player run the animation.

Thanks for the video Kenwort, it reveals the surprise in a nice way, i liked the "shaky" camera in the second part of the video, very dynamic.

Name is WW4 because there is an OFP modteam that use the name WW3 already, and as the camos and soldiers details are not correct to the real thing i needed something fictional not involving real countries, it left me only with WW4 biggrin_o.gif

What's new since beta 6

-"surprise content" is now complete each soldiers from West, East and Resistance is replaced by my own, just have fun toying around with it in various missions and campaigns, i fixed a small bug form the beta6 version.

-climbing animation is not anymore linked to CROUCH stance when pressing in the same time MOVE BACK + TURBO keys, now to climb high walls you need to put your "weapon on back" (in the case of the mod, go to patrol stance)first and then press MOVE BACK + TURBO key in the same time.

This is done to avoid the too often accidental climb animations during a firefight that will make you stuck for enough seconds to get you killed.

-moving over smaller barriers animation is always linked to standing aiming and pressing MOVE BACK + TURBO key in the same time, may change in the future, i will see.

-the NVG texture i built originally for GRAA modpack is now replacing the BIS NVG texture, i just prefer it and it is less annoying.

Beta 7 seems very solid currently.

But that's not all, i even thought about the 2 or 3 modders always using OFP on Earth, so here is your Christmas gift :

Inside can be found all body parts, the various TGA and PNG (textures, wrinkles, swatches, blood overlays, etc...) that were used to build the "surprise content". Provided are also the MLOD (as it is binarised ingame for optimisation and performance).

It does not replace modding ressource package no1 so getting it too is a good thing, but is a (very) big addition to it. You should be able to build tons of different soldiers by using wisely both ressource packages.

Next modder ressource will feature all my hand painted swatches and the remnant of the body parts i will finish to build for the potential future modders (the 1 or 2 around the internet biggrin_o.gif ).

Note that i provide what you need and example of merging scripts too, but you don't need to merge textures in your end, but you must know that it will improve performance a lot by doing so.

It turned out that I am a real running with weap up animation killer.

I rushed on 3 americans and shot 3 head shots while running, I was laughting to death xD!

Ok back to topic.

There is still no possibilty to roll in prone position.

I love the animations while crouch (run/walk)

I suggest you to rework reloading anims. Now that AI keep low profile the reloading should last for longer (more realism) and the animations should look more modern, not like a reloading amateur.

AI using animations from your pack look very very nice and natural, I am glad that it's only beta. So the final should blow me up to the air biggrin_o.gif

Once again. Hope for HD option as in my opinion shooting head shots from 500m isn't connected with realism.

Good report, the bug is now fixed, this one was easy fortunately, next beta he will have his shadow.

the surprise content was the whole replacement of every west/east/resistance soldiers by the highly optimised ones (they have even less textures than the default BIS soldiers), that can be used massively without the usual framerate drop.

this content was not present in previous beta and was not planned.

Next beta hopefully there will be a preview on the ww4 troopers.
