The Road to Everon

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, The Road to Everon

I have been working really hard on this mission so don't be to harsh. We are still working on the mission so expect updates in the near future, if you guys find any bugs or if you have any suggestions please post it here. The mission takes place two days after the attack on The East Region, you are a special task force called in for reconnaissance missions. Take this mission on the way you want it. Go in silent and take the enemy by surprise, snipe from hills and move in or move in and take the towns by force. We implemented some great scripts to make this mission one of a kind.. hopefully Again if you have anything to say about the mission please post it here. Enjoy

Latest updates:

v1.1

-Mission not ending fixed

-Populated Everon

-bug fixes

v1.0

-Fixed sound issues

-added triggers

-added vehicle scripting

-Changed Briefing

-Fixed Revive scripts

Hey guys,

I made my mind up. This was probably the worst place ever to post my mission .  confused_o.gif I worked really hard to make this mission fun, but it seems that there are more people here that take my work for granted. Just remember that I don't get paid for the missions I make. So if you cant even tell me why the mission is so "bad" then I don't know what to tell you.

Sooooooooo please do me a favor and delete this mission from your forum.. no offense, its a great forum. And I will still post here, but I don't want my mission to be available to some guys that doesn't even know how to make a mission.  sad_o.gif

Dude, give people a few days to play it. There's 4 votes on there and who knows if they are serious. Since you can't guarantee the seriousness of the votes, I would not take the results too seriously either. This is true for all internet polls.

If you want a serious review, try submitting it to ofpec. They'll get right to the nitty gritty.

It can be a tough ball game in these forums. I can attest to that. And it does seem as time has passed since Arma's release, there is less and less feedback here, Im not sure why that is, but I have seen this with my current mission in the works. A year ago my mission was very far from an alpha stage, yet there were quite a few responses from updates, now, as my mission slowly grows closer, there is practically no response at all, no matter how much eye candy I provide in pics attached to updates.

All I can really say is, if you like the feel and concept of your mission, just do stuff with it when you want to. And if little or no response continues, it comes down to your decision as to whether or not to keep a thread going on about it confused_o.gif

Plantiff is right about Ofpec, but to end up going there, I suggest being ready for it, beta testing area is ideal only if your mission is near enough to completion to warrant beta testing, and in all truth, I think the Beta testing area is really the best place to start if you want some serious feedback - but again, I just reccomend that the mission is truly in a "Beta" stage for that, because its a one time shot.

Then of course there is the full mission release area on Ofpec, and it seems the only way to really get responses there is to have the mission ready for review, its touch and go with expecting people to test it in the mission release area Imo.

Unfortunately it seems things have gradually toned down quite a bit over time with Arma user missions here on the forums, it certainly is not Ofp, and miss those days where almost every mission released, even incomplete, would get floods of responses, but again, it seems a dif ballgame now.

I'd definitely give it a try if it was SP, I just don't play much MP. My time is too limited to get together with a group and play, it wouldn't be fair to others if I played for 15 minutes at a time.

The mission concept sounds like a fun one though.

Hey Ion, might remember me you nipped into our server the other night. Just had a quick go at this mission, but didn't get very far. The helicopter flight that is supposed to take you to the hilltop fails to land. Instead it flys over the shilka etc and proptly get shot down.

Obviously making mission myself i know how much of a pain choppers can be, they work fine in the editor in most situations. Then when it comes to MP, they dont want to know.

Back on topic, in my opinion the chopper ride is not really needed (unless it plays a bigger part in the mission later?) From the initial FUP you get to in the hummer, its not that far up hill and could easily be done on foot. I know chopper flights are always nice, but in my experience (OFP & ArmA editing) simplicity is the way to go in MP.

Just my thought's anyway. biggrin_o.gif

Hey Shadow smile_o.gif

Very interesting mate, thanks for the tip. I will give it a look today. Before launching the mission we tested it over and over again and we didn't seem to find any chopper problems though. That one time that the chopper actually does fail can become a pain in the ars if you know what I mean  biggrin_o.gif, Will test a few things to make the mission more stable, maybe remove the chopper at the end. Thanks buddy

Nice little fights! Those canons are bit to close to opfor. Would you allow your enemy to setup such things in front (+uphill) of your line? Even the main camp could be more away from the first combat line - think about patrols and security perimeter. wink_o.gif

If all Shilkas are destroyed make an option to call CAS or paratroops to mapclick/smoke.

True mate, I will think about making changes wink_o.gif. Though there is a reason, you see this mission is based on pushing back the enemy forces from the East Region. Everon is their last remaining defense point. After Everon they have nowhere to go. So its a standoff, they don't make a move because.. well they cant, so allied troops take the advantage of the hill. Modesta is simply a defense point, it isn't anything major. See it like this, the enemy General is a fool and he doesn't care if his troops die  huh.gif.

But yea mate you got a good point. The main reason why I put it close is because I don't want people to run/ drive or whatever to far to get to the enemy base.

Me and a few of GOL have given this a go and we have enjoyed the mission a good ammount, the only downside I can recall is that theres not many player slots making it tricky to find a chance to play it since in the clan is quite big

but again great mission and great work bud smile_o.gifthumbs-up.gif

Hello,

i've been on this forum for quite a while now, but until now i

was just a reader. So this is my first port.

Last night me and a friend of mine tried this mission out. We really had lots of fun with it.

We Especially liked the fact that you are close to the action , i.e. you do not have to take a lengthy ride to the place to where the action really starts. (Usually i don't have much time to play, so i appreciate short, intense battles).

We played for about 3 hours and only had to clear the enemy artillery and everon left to do. For me the weather in the mission at the start was not to good, all rainy and thunderstorms etc. Once in a while it cleared up so that i could see for more than ca. 200m. But after about 2,5 h of gameplay it became so foggy for me, that i couldn't see much ; ca. 40 m to 60 m.

My friend did hear the rain, but head had clear view for hundreds of meters.

After about half an our of blinding fog for me (and unlimited fun fpr my friend with the m107) we stopped playing since it simply wasn't fun anymore for me.

Does anybdody have an idea what could cause this heavy fog for me ?

I hosted the game on my pc over internet.

Besides from that we really had great fun playing. As soon as i find out how to get rid of the fog we will surely try again.

There was one thing (bug ?) we encountered:

Before moving to the southernmost target / city we wanted to load some weapons and ammo into the humvee. I drove the humvee close to the ammocrate and we started loading. After about 5 min the humvee somehow "telported" back to its starting position. All weapons and magazines we had packed into it so far were spread all around it.

We tried this for several times, but it always happend again. I also tried to put one of the ai soldiers into the humvee to stop it from teleporting, but this also didn't work.

Is this intentional or is it a bug ?

Keep Up the good work ! And thanks in advance for any help on my problem.

Haven't posted in a while smile_o.gif

First off thanks for the review man, I really appreciate it. About the humvee, I put a vehicle respawn on the humvee, so it was intentional the reason for the respawn is because if someone should die and respawn at Camp Charlie then at least he would have a vehicle with him, makes traveling a bit faster, I should have put a warning in the notes. I apologize for that. Again thanks dude

Kind Regards,

Ionflux
