Griffon79 0 Posted August 27, 2008 I agree, but would be also great to see BMD-3 & Sprut in game (For instance Pskov Div. is getting them now). As for BTR-D, BMD-2 I have a small book - may be it will help.
soul_assassin 1750 Posted August 27, 2008 Im first looking to make all the BMD1 based non-artillery vehicles: BMD-1 BMD-1P BMD-2 BTRD i don't think im going to make 20 different camo's as we used to back in RHS but release a skin template. first i want to iron out the work flow so after BMD1 the rest should come quite quickly. thnx for the pics! CameronMcDonald 146 Posted August 27, 2008 Quick question, mate - do you think you'll try and put the bow MGs on the BMD1? It'd be mad if you could get 'em working! Edit - wrong vehicle, damn my eyes.

Gedis 0 Posted August 27, 2008 i advice this BMD modelling: 1st make BMD-1(turret is the same one as BMP-1's) 2nd BMD-1P(just add that atgm on the turret) 3rd BMD-2(new turret, remove 1 of the frontal MGs) 4th BTR-D(longer version of BMD-1,add 1 more roadwheel per side, change the model's upper fuselage) 5th BTR-RD(just add atgm to the BTR-D) 6th BTR-ZD with ZU-23-2(just add zu-23-2 aa gun on BTR-D) 7th 2s9 Nona(fit turret on BTR-D and remove frontal MGs) 8th BMD-3(turret is just like BMP-2's and like BTR-90's) 9th BTR-MD Rakushka - unofficially called BTR-D3(new design, based on BMD3, suppose to replace BTR-Ds) 10th BTR-MMD(an ambulance/medical evacuation version of BTR-MD) 11th BMD-4 - unofficially called BMD-3M(just fitt new turret on BMD-3) 12th BMD-4M that's the easiest way to model, all these notes are rude, since there were early/late factury build models of BMDs, vdv_assassin, you should read all those magazines i gave you, there's writen how each model were different from each other. check this out BTR-MD read this

Also the wheels are different, I will see how much it will make a difference. EDIT: thnx for the document. In that China/VDV article there is a picture of what looks like a GAZ66 with a sawn-off driver cabin. Do you know anything about that?>
Gedis 0 Posted August 27, 2008 EDIT: thnx for the document. In that China/VDV article there is a picture of what looks like a GAZ66 with a sawn-off driver cabin. Do you know anything about that?> come on! can't you read what is writen bellow that picture? Â k, here you go: "Universal P-7M Pallet In Russia and China: One photo shows a GAZ airborne truck on a P-7M pallet, and the other shows an indigenous PLA airborne truck on a Universal P-7M pallet. soul_assassin 1750 Posted August 27, 2008 im talking about the top 2 pictures of the soviet trucks, not the third picture of the chinese. in the bigger one of the two there is a GAZ66 but its cabin is missing glass/top. I was just wondering if you knew anything about those and NOT the chinese one
Gedis 0 Posted August 27, 2008 whoops, missunderstood...  i think GAZ-66s for vdv had removable cabins or folding ones or open cabins... hm, let's find that out  EDIT "There are two options: 1.Gaz-66B with the canvas cabin, which is in preparation for the ejection was folded and fastened in a car or platform (including the radio at its base and other things such as MRS-DAT, DPP-40, the installation of rocket and artillery fire. etc.) This option is known to all. 2.Gaz-66 with an ordinary cab. On the platform ustanavlimvayutsya special extensions beyond the dimensions of rear platform under which prosedaet machine and thereby allows desantirovanie.Etot in size is less known. To reset with IL-76 and An-22 is not izgalyayutsya nor as dimensions landing hatch and so wonderful." lol   what a funny mix of russian and english words after translating this with "google translate" for you, none-russian-speakers

nephilim 0 Posted September 15, 2008 nice progress! personally i dont like all those black "dirt" shadows youve put on the texture. theyre too massive and busy looking. i´d say give it a try and lighten up those shadows. cheers

However it has to be said that after it is in game I will tweak it. It's kinda hard to judge from just viewport shots.

spooky lynx 73 Posted September 15, 2008 EDIT: thnx for the document. In that China/VDV article there is a picture of what looks like a GAZ66 with a sawn-off driver cabin. Do you know anything about that?> This is rare version of GAZ-66 which was also used as chassis for BM-21V airborne MLRS. But both truck and MLRS weren't widely produced. Mainly VDV troops used regular army GAZ-66 trucks.

soul_assassin 1750 Posted October 5, 2008 After a bit of silence I bring news First in-game shots! it ain't much yet but still a major milestone. You can read all about it and see one more picture at me BLOG Don't bash the specularity too much its just a test for now. C&C welcome
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted October 5, 2008 You said not to bash the specularity, so I won't. Good stuff mate. I'm no modeller, but if you'd like some detailed suggestions I'd recommend putting the piccehs up in the "Stuff I'm working on" thread... that is if the modelling pros don't already have their eyes glued on you. Keep it up. EDIT - ...any word on getting the bow MGs working? I was thinking about how I would do it, but then I realised that if the BMD1 only has a crew of 2, it might be rather difficult. The BMD has a crew of 4 actually Gunner in the turret, driver, commander on the port side manning one mg, and a soldier on the starboard side manning the other mg. If its possible I'll implement it. If not then sadly not. I hope to get atleast the commander MG to work.
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted October 5, 2008 Well, shows how much I know about it. Tentatively, I do believe it's possible, the bloke working on the Normandy Mod has apparently gotten it going for an M4A4 Sherman, though you'd have to hit him up for more information. Quote[/b] ]M4A4 Sherman has 4 crew positions: driver, gunner, commander & hull gunner. 3 possible positions to gun from. I'd love to see it implemented - would truly turn the BMD into a formidable IFV.
