Stewy 1 Posted June 24, 2008 Been blasting away on ACE Everon like the good old days (read 1.08 days) and no lag! It is hard to come with anything constructive if you really see this with 1.14. The -vm108 option is really no longer present in this version, and you could write other options like -fixAllBugs or -runFast, and any of them might have the same effect. Or perhaps you could wear a green/blue cap while playing ArmA, and it would fix the issue as well? I do not intend to be sarcastic at all, I am used to see all kinds of unexpected behaviours while working with computers, I am just trying to confirm -vm108 is really doing nothing (if you decide not to believe me, some experienced user could confirm it by searching through the executable strings to see the option really no longer exists). Not sure mate, who knows? But to me it seems to be working a whole lot better and to me there is a very noticeable improvement...So Stewy's a happy chappy... ...and yes, I'll try different coloured caps while playing and give you a performance update! sparky 0 Posted June 25, 2008 In my case 1.14 is runs better, in fact since 1.08 my ArmA is getting better and better... and in case you wonder i'm at the mid range pc Intel PIV 3.2 Perscott (I know that sucks, but i can use it to boil my coffee too), 2048MB RAm, and ATI Sapphire X1950Pro 512MB(the best AGP model i could find, for my dying AGP motherboard)... @Stewy, a smal suggestion i use after my recent format.. -install ArmA, then copy the whole folder in an other part of your HDD -apply the patch, if the patch is succesfull, delete the 1st cope and recopy -Do this til you get to your final patch state.. sometimes with no reason during patching process, the patcher encounters an error causing ArmA to screwed up, in this case you need to uninstall the whole game and install it again. By doing this you're going to save yourself a big headache, of reinstalling in case something goes wrong.
vilas 477 Posted June 25, 2008 @Stewy, a smal suggestion i use after my recent format..-install ArmA, then copy the whole folder in an other part of your HDD since 1.09 there is no DVD-check, but what to do if "orginality check" in previous version and tools broke disc (scratches because of long "orginality chceck during launch" ) even if i wanted to back to 1.08 and clear instal, i cannot do it cause game broke disc (in Polish version we had Starforce and sometimes checking orginality was taking 30 seconds... ) i also have missing LODs and missing textures now, like in 1.05 , when models became cubics and textures appears after second :/

dotted 0 Posted June 26, 2008 So your saying that you had an increase in FPS with shadows on max? WOW! Will try this at lunchtime! Â If you have a weak cpu, and a powerful GPU increasing shadow detail will help, as the lower settings causes shadows to be rendered on the CPU Don't mean to go off topic here but I have a Nvidia 7600 GS GPU and a dual core processor. Â Tried the max shadow setting and my framerate went down noticeably. Well your GPU is weak so ofc its gonna go down.

Scarlet_Pimp 0 Posted June 27, 2008 It's true, i've been playing the game with normal shadows cos and still getting low fps some times, i put them up to very high and it looks much smother, could be placebo but i'm very happy with the fps now. My system is A64x2 4200@2.5ghz 3 gig RAM and 8800gt 512mb my CPU deffinatly the weakest part of my system. Are there any other settings like this which i could turn up with out affecting my game? CarlGustaffa 4 Posted June 30, 2008 Agree on the JIP lag, it's quite intense. the -vm108 option worked wonders for me back when it was operational. Using scoped weapons is now impossible due to low fps while looking through them. New lowgrass improves things, but not enough, but now it's looking so good I can't live without it Wooden areas of north Sahrani is also quite a no go for me. Switching to windowed mode helps a lot though (1920x1200 native resolution in full screen), but I'd still like the performance the -vm108 gave me. I will not revert to 1.08, simply because of the new editor commands which is much needed to multiplayer missions.
madine75 0 Posted June 30, 2008 I was having lag and general slowness after I upgraded to v1.14, and tried the profile trick first. When that didn't give me any additional speed, I uninstalled everything. Then I re-installed ArmA, followed by QG and then the 1.14 upgrade. I then reinstalled all my 3rd party addons to their own mod folder. After doing this procedure, I gained anywhere up to 10 frames. I have a Athlon 3200+ with 1gb RAM and a 256mb 7600GS, so it's not the beefiest machine, and I play with most settings on High and a VD of around 1500 at 1024x768@75Hz. I also find v1.14 to be far more stable and less likely to crash than previous versions.
