L33t-krew 0 Posted May 25, 2008 Any reason? Every so often, of I change with some stupid message about being good? Ive googled around, and it seems its an anti virus protection measure :| wtf? Ive got a legal copy of the game, purchased from my nearest Game store. It dosent happen often, but its pissing me of BIG time ,especially after a hard fought campaign. Im on the latest patch 1.14. Any ideas? thanks
rowdied 44 Posted May 25, 2008 Any reason? Any ideas? I have a few; 1. Reinstall the game with the correct serial key and not from a keygen. 2. Do not use a crack to play the game. It will run without the cd and the latest patch. What's happening should have nothing to do with Anti-virus software running but if you use a pirated version of the game and a combination of the above reasons. L33t-krew 0 Posted May 25, 2008 ive tried reinstalling it with serial code which is in box (I brought sealed so it hasnt been stolen). I havent used keygen. I havent used cracks. Ive updated to latest level. Result? Still the same Im really really annoyed because its basically halted my progress and its just turning into a debacle. Any ideas? icebreakr 3159 Posted May 25, 2008 Same thing happened in my team where we all use originals (czech and 505) - we even had a base respawn 30sec mission and 2 of them appeared as seagulls! When we restarted the mission everything worked ok.
L33t-krew 0 Posted May 25, 2008 ive tried new campaigns, reinstalling, rollbacks, everything. So basically im screwed. **** this. I paid a shit load of money for this game instead of pirating it, out of TOTAL respect, and ive been ****ed up the backside. I cant return this game (im Ireland they dont allow it to be returned after it has been opened) so im left with a game which is an admirable pidgeon simulator. Very annoyed
hamis 0 Posted May 26, 2008 Well,i have similar problem. And my copy is legal,505 version (arma+qg 58,80€ wasted?).If you doubt legality of my copy i can email my serial for moderator! So,what's wrong?
maddogx 13 Posted May 26, 2008 If you have a legitimate copy, you should also have the game manual, which includes the contact details of the publisher (505 games etc.). If your legitimate copy is not working as expected, you should contact them.
SWAT_BigBear 0 Posted May 26, 2008 Also check the 0 (number) and O (letter) in the key code. Edit by Maruk: to avoid confusion, this is really not important as the installer handles 0 (number) and O (letter) in the key code as equal characters purely to avoid such problems. Also, incorrectly entered key code with a type would be recognized right when entered to the setup.
hamis 0 Posted May 26, 2008 How can you find out which is which?
SWAT_BigBear 0 Posted May 26, 2008 How can you find out which is which? They should look different as in my post. Mine has 2 zero's, if 1 doesn't work, try the other.
maruk 80 Posted May 26, 2008 I can confirm that there is an anti-piracy mechanism in ArmA resulting players being randomly turned into a bird with chat message "good birds don't fly away from this game..." displayed (which clearly makes it different from normal seagull respawn as used in some multiplayer missions). We apologize for any inconvenience if it got activated as "false alarm". In such case, if you are certain you have only original version of ArmA installed with the very same serial number used as found in your original game packaging, please send me a pm via this forum and I will find a solution for your as quickly as possible (we will need few answers from you first). You can also use our email address info@bistudio.com but please pm me anyway pointing me to the exact email subject as otherwise it might take very long time to process due to excessive amount of spam received to that email address. You can also contact official support using the contact information provided in your game manual (or Support Page ) I hope you understand this type of matter is best handled privately so I am closing this topic here for now until we have something more to add. maruk 80 Posted May 28, 2008 So far, only hamis contacted me and he didn't see any of these symptoms and he is using a legitimate copy of the game (he's having various unrelated issues but it doesn't have any relation to the original bird problem reported here). To summarize: If you are turned into bird randomly during gameplay and can see a message "Good birds don't fly away from this game, you have only yourself to blame" you need to check if you are really not using counterfeit installation of the game. If you are sure your copy is officially purchased and you are still suffering from these symptoms (note that there can be other symptoms shown in pirated version of the game not mentioned here) see my post above.
