Maceme 0 Posted February 23, 2008 Hello, I don't like the blur / depth of field effect so I want to disable it. I disabled it in another installation, but now I don't remember how. I have searched in the forums, but I have not been fortunate. Thanks in advance.
Dallas 9 Posted February 23, 2008 ArmA: Manual Settings/Options/Video Options/Advanced Video Options/ Terrain Detail - the higher the terrain detail, the more subdivisions each square can have. This results in smoother and more natural terrain. Objects detail - sets the overall quality of object models, so with a lower setting you may see lower Levels of Detail for objects. Texture detail - the overall quality of textures in the game. A lower setting may cause more blurry textures. Shading detail - affects all of the special shading techniques used in the game. Postprocessing - some special effects like the Depth of Field. Shadow detail - detailed shadows can make a scene come alive, but also demand a lot from your hardware. If you experience performance issues, try lowering this option. Anisotropic filtering - a method of enhancing the quality of textures on surfaces that are far away and on a small angle to the camera. Antialiasing - this technique tries to minimize aliasing (jagged edges) caused by showing high-resolution content at lower resolutions. Blood - turn in-game blood on or off. Turn postprocessing off. Hope I helped
Maceme 0 Posted February 23, 2008 Ok, thanks for the fast reply. I have the first german version, so the manual is in german...
Dallas 9 Posted February 23, 2008 Babelfish: Nachbearbeitung(?) Â I just remember my version is german too, but if you patch your game to 1.08 or 1.09 you get a language option in your basic video options too.

I too have the German version but no matter how many times I change the language in game the manual still stays German, damn BIS !!
sparks50 0 Posted February 28, 2008 Why would you remove this effect anyway? Its a nice looking effect and takes nearly none resources(on my computer anyway) I guess its down to preference
sickboy 13 Posted February 28, 2008 I too have the German version but no matter how many times I change the language in game the manual still stays German, damn BIS !! Â I guess that's the difference between the download and the cd version? I believe the download versions came later, so they decided to give English for free for the true early adapters (those who are not German/Czech and still had bought a German/Czech version, as fans) About the effects, I like em too but I could understand why some find the clear/unclear (depth of field) effects annoying. It's not proper done in some situations, iirc like in bushes etc
dmarkwick 261 Posted February 28, 2008 I too have the German version but no matter how many times I change the language in game the manual still stays German, damn BIS !! I remember a friend of mine had this problem with the downloaded version. After a bit of a look about I mentioned he should manually change the first line in his MyDocument\ArmA\ArmA.cfg file to read: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">language="English"; and that seemed to do the trick. Its a nice looking effect and takes nearly none resources(on my computer anyway)I guess its down to preference Yep it's preference I just don't like it. DOF is good for videos IMO but for gameplay it's not realistic. My eyes travel allover the screen when I'm playing and forcing some areas to be blurry isn't realistic. IMO natch

Padooka 0 Posted March 2, 2008 I just bought ARMA Gold and both my v1.08 and the v1.09B only have LOW-HIGH-VERY HIGH as options for Postprocessing. Should I have an OFF as well? I've never liked Depth of Field. Your eyes focus very fast while looking around and I've never seen a need to simulate what isn't there.
SBSDelta 0 Posted March 2, 2008 You can 'force off' post processing effects , via your graphics card interface, dont know which card you use so, for Radeon, ATI Tray tools by Ray Adams are useful, or if you are Nvidea, you can force pp off in the control panel.
