the eternal doubt about witch driver version install....

after some test, my personal experience suggest for the 8800 user, to install the 169.38 drivers not the 171 serie.

Setting texture Very High can cause game random CTD, setting High iis lot more stable, and look very similar.

this is a personal report, I'm here to share other opinion.

WWHD.*

I'm running 171.23b and haven't had any CTDs with texture dialled up to max on a 8800 GTX 768mb card. Seems stable enough. Have to say though that I don't get FPS levels even close to RubberKite's, but then I've not fiddled in Rivatuner. Does Vsync on make that much difference on a LCD?

BTW...are there any explanations as to what exactly each of the settings actually do? Post Processing...what? Usually have it on Vhigh but no idea what it does.

i run with 171.23 now. i solved the HDR bug with nhancer, and i think the maxmem=512 is what caused crash, too.

now, i run without maxmem on 1.08 , texture very high , and i was able to reach 957MB on arma process without crash.

Right , i think later , my game would crash , but at least, not it didnt happen in my 2 hour session game.

Im using 171.23 as well.

Whats the HDR bug, and how did you solve it ?

Note: I tried the 174.12s for 32bit XP, but they made the ground textures blurry for some reason. Other then that I had no problem with them, and felt they were more put together then previous versions.

HDR bug was because i changed some adv. drivers features, my bad. i fixed that in restoring default settings.
