Israeli defence force magach 6 tank

Recommended Posts

Coming very soon in the next Lost Brothers Mod update-

The Magach 6 MBT with ERA.

While technically this is not a modern tank (they quit using this version back in the mid- 1990's) we will be releasing this just to give our boys a little armor until we get our Merkava's worked out. Hopefully this weekend we will make substantial progress on the Merkava Mk3 and the Achzarit heavy APC.

I just need to fix the recoil bugs now present on patch 1.09 with our infantry. After that I'll release an updated pack that will include a few other updates on the infantry as well (medics updated with paramedic shears on their ammo belt), shadow LOD's improved, etc...).

At any rate, at least the tank will give our infantry a little extra fire power during assaults. The M60 is originally by Inquisitor and Sigma then converted into ArmA by Törni. I just edited the textures with our old ones from OFP (we used their model with their permission in OFP). Below are a few pics:

Keep an eye out for this release sometime before the New Year hopefully.

Yeah I probably should have cranked the resolution up a bit more, but actually these were done under the "normal" graphics setting rather then "low" on my previous pics...so they look a bit better I think.

Ok, if you put one Magach v.s. one BIS t72 controlled by AI, who wins? I've heared that if t72 gets hit first, it's history...

That depends on the type of T-72.  If its an older model like those used by Syria and it lacks any reactive armor, then yeah, the 105mm SABOT rounds used by the Magach 6 would likely destroy the T-72 as they did during the 1982 Invasion of Lebanon in which they engaged Syrian T-72 tanks.   However if hit by a 125mm SABOT round from a T-72, the Magach 6 wil likely not survive as the ERA is intended more for protection against first generation RPGs such as the standard RPG-7V.

Generally, the Israeli armored corp has dominated battlefields due not so much to them having better equipment but also in the past due to their excellent command and control structure and skillful strategists and tacticians in both their junior and senior officer ranks.

Where they have more problems is against guerilla soldiers like Hezbollah equipped with advanced ATGM's (like the Kornet) and the latest RPG's like the RPG-29 and RPG-7VR (both equipped with tandem warhead rockets).

the model looks nice, just a little remark. there are some boxes above the tracks that have shaded edges. i think it'd look better with sharp edges

If this rolling thunder has no damaged model, but does have OFP-style sounds, then it should spend more time in the garage smile_o.gif

Miles Teg - I was talking about BIS ArmA T-72, not real-life T-72s goodnight.gif

Nice work Miles smile_o.gif

Bare in mind, we stopped using those big tv-like star light amplifier which are mounted above the cannon years ago, around the mid 90's, and started using thermal-imaging devices which are built inside the tank. It looked like this ever since.

Moreover, the use of the Magach 6B tank in the IDF stopped when the Merkava MK4 entered regular service around 2004 and the 401th brigade (which regularly used the Magach 6B) moved to utilize the Merkava MK4.

All of the remaining Magach 6B tanks became scraps and the reserves forces that used to be a Magach 6B crewmen were re-trained as a Magach 7c crewmen - I know this because they're now in the same battalion as me in reserves smile_o.gif

Btw, armored corps crewmen NEVER used M16s until very recently - we used Galil SAR. The M16s where too whimpy to withstand the physical punishment everything that got on a tank had - the M16s usualy just broke down or got jammed because of all the sand and dust the tank would rise during training...
