Wobble

I really wanted to kick this guy's ass today

Recommended Posts

I was headed home through my neighborhood after getting some chinese (food not people), as I was driving along at 30 (the speed limit) this kid comes flying out into the street from a driveway right in front of me.. i slam on my breaks skuuurreech!.. the kid in panic fell of the bike (and probably shit himself).. and starts crying... not hurt but probably just afraid.. then his dad comes flying out of a house 2 housed down screaming AT ME "you should watch where the fuck your gooing goddamnt hy 5 year old could have been killed!!"

Im thinking.. shit this kid isnt but 5 and this guy is letting him ride around unsupervised like this..

so i told him that maby he should watch his kids insted of telling everyone else to do it for him.. and if I had run the kid over it would be HIM that was put in jail, not me.

then he said he was gonna call the police.. I dared him.. asking him what they would think when he told them that he let his 5 yeard old go bike riding alone with no helmet (its the law untill yer 12) in a neighborhood...

im still waiting for the cops.. i really hope hes dumb enough to call them.

people like that annoy me to no end.. they turn their kids loose and expece the populace to make sure and avoid them running out in the street..etc.. etc.. screw these people, watch your own kids

you were still going to fast tho wobble the speed limit is 30 yeah that is the maximum speed limit u should be at the very least doiing 20 mph or less in a built up area.

But on the other point i quite agree, if a child has no road sense yet because he is too young then imo he is too young to play outside unsupervised.

oh and is it really the law to wear a helmet in america for under 12's that is the best idea i heard so far.

In australia everyone has to wear a helmet no matter what. You get your bike confiscated if you do not.

in france the speed limit is at 50kph in town

you don't need to wear a helmet , you only have to have a good bike with all the lights and correct brakes

You should always be carefull about kids wobble. Its always drivers fault if he drives over someone.

I am always extra carefull if I see kids alongside of the road. You'll never know what they do.

Bullshit scooby. Anyway, Wobble dont wait for the police cause it is no longer realy their business. I assume that due to the fact that nothing has happened, nor that you speed can be proven (whatever it might have been), that now it has become private law. The police however only acts on behalf of public law.

What this guy can do however is to tell his lawyer that his kid hurt himself while it fell from the bike. And he can ask his neighbours to witness that you drove too fast. The duty of parents to watch their kids is a point against the guy (but would be a different case, but not an excuse for you. A driver cannot expect reasonable behaviour from a child.

But hey..as long as you are sure that you didnt drive far tooooo fast (so nobody can prove it) you got absolutely nothing to fear.

(you must understand the father a little bit, as a male we often mix up anger with anxiety! He must have been very afraid something might have happened to his kid)

Unfortunately, this is an example of a growing trend in America. Parent's taking a "hands off" approach to raising their kids. One only has to look at the news and television to see it, parents blaming everything and everyone but themselves for what happens to their kids. And then they SUE to try and prove it! Pisses me off to no end I tell you!

Whether Wobble SHOULD have been doing 20 or not is not of consequence. The police can't ticket you for what you SHOULD have been doing, unless road conditions dictate (not how urban or built up an area is).

I don't blame the kid...just a kid doin' kid things...he doesn't know. The Dad on the other hand (or the Mother...point being SOMEONE) should have been watching the kid, especially with a road and given the kids age not to mention he was on a bike (how many have seen 5 year olds on a bike? not exactly "in control").

Unfortunately here in Austin all laws favor bikes and pedestrians. Someone could literally THROW themselves on your hood and the car driver will be to blame...because you weren't psychic enough or whatever. Austin just repealed the helmet law also. I say if you don't wear a helmet on a bike or motorcycle and are in a wreck, you are excluded from ANY state sponsored health care or what not. I ain't paying for you to be a dumbass. Harsh but fair. Why should I have to pay for it?

I'll stop my rant for now....go get coffee and breakfast and try to calm down

I didn't know the french had any road laws. I thought they just had to make sure they don' crash, no matter how fast they go.

I think that's germany. In france, they spit at you if you are not french and dare to drive.

Actually, max speed varies from city to city. my home town has 25miles limit(which no one keeps) in residential area, and main road is 45mph(which also no one keeps).

In LA, main streets have 40 or 35 in some cases. but you can't go any faster than that anyway due to congestion. tounge.gif

and cops are lenient. going about 5miles faster is ok with them..but if you are going faster than that, good luck.
