Band Of Brothers Mod

Recommended Posts

it was testet in a 40 vs. 40 battle... but anyway the boots don't have the same attachment system as the rest it seems because the lacers can't get 100% stuck on them, some movements will cause them to hang arround in the air... so the boots will be changed again... maybe just some lower poly bumbs or something.... the lacers on the smock coat will stay they look really good ingame, however they can without any problems be edited down to have half the polycount and you won't tell the difference it was kind of silly to make a high poly version of something that small...

That's a problem with anything you add like that, you'd have to increase the weight a lot, but that would mean a fair bit of deformations.

You are going to do Bastogne or not for now?

For now we are sticking with Normandy but we will get to Bastogne smile_o.gif. We are going to be doing the Mod in Phases kind of like the series (Normandy, Market Garden, Bastogne). Hope that has answered your question.

Well, that was the point.

I prefer that you make one phase by one (and if it's possible a release of that one) and not the WHOLE Series. The ETA would be 2010.

I'm pretty sure that's what has just been explained,Twice.

The mod will be produced and released in Phases.

phase one covering the episodes:

Currahee

Day of Days

Carentan,

phase two should consist of:

Replacements

Crossroads

phase three will consist of:

Bastonge

The Breaking Point

The Last Patrol

phase four

Why we fight

Points

more missions will be included to bulk out the campaigns

hopes this clears things up

Decent job on the smock portion so far, especially for an early WIP.

webbingsbl5.jpg

webbings almost done still needs some tweaking here and there but it's basicly done, next step is to put everything back on the model in the most correct way possible...

any links to referance pictures of german soliders would be welcome

Sorry if I seem rude, but you need to re-examine the harness. The portion where the utility straps hang from is much higher on the torso, in the high chest region.

sure I will...

but just to be sure here is it the part of the front harness where it splits into two that needs to be higher, I got some pictures that might indicate that but they are very poor...

thanks for letting me know Belgerot

Yes. They've also made a mistake by attaching the auxiliary

straps to the belt. In reality, one strap on each side attached

to either the M1911 rifle cartridge pouches (or a set of

supplementary D-rings on the belt - when pouches were not

worn), while the other auxiliary strap (Hilfstrageriem)

hung loose. The auxiliary straps were intended for attaching

to hooks on the M1939 pack, to some models of rucksack and

the M1939 combat pack frame.

Beware of using that photo posted earlier as a reference. By

1944 it was far more common for the belt support straps to

be field green webbing and not leather.

Edit: Your U.S. Army paratrooper appears to be wearing his

smock buttoned on the girls' side.

This render pics are really good, SS troops look great so far, but (I know that is easy to say confused_o.gif ) ain't US paratroopers got textures in lower resolution than SS? They look fine too, but they look a lil' bit poor, you know? Haha, but they still rocks notworthy.gif .

Reference my last post. Here is a possibly useful illustration

of late war German infantry equipment. This is a typical

equipment carried by someone armed with the Gew.43

(Gew. 43 magazine pouches on the left worn with M1911

pouches for loose rounds, etc, on the right). A black leather

waist belt could also be used with the webbing belt support

straps.

@Kristian: no need to actually model the jacket flap. Much much easier to texture it and use normal maps. The result in the end is also better because right now you have a sharp edge that's being lighted and it will look like a knifes edge, while with a normal map it'll look much softer and in the end better.

@Benoist

Yes Band Of Brothers Mod is lucky enough to be running on an SLX modified Arma and will be implemented with the mod for public release.

@Col. Faulkner

Thanks For the info we will look into that make the needed adjustments.

the utility belt has been edited already from what i am understand just not pictured.

@Igor101AD

Yes the Us Para's are using a lower res uniform at the minute.

all uniform helmet textures are placeholders at the minute and will be updated in the future (before release)

any textures that have been applied at the minute at purely for progress ingame shots.

Thanks to everyone for the interest, helpful information and support.

this is pretty much it, there will be two versions of the ss so far, heavy and light smock

sssmockheavyfv5.jpg

sssmocklightlk0.jpg

the webbing issue will be fixed with normal mapping or else it will become even more complicated...

they have a pretty high polycount but so far there has been no performance issues but I have low poly backups of the units if there should be problems we can make two version with high and low polycounts.

thanks for that picture Col. Faulkner I needed one with the "launchbox" thing on it.

about those straps, can't really tell how much more I will do with them unless it can be done without changing them much

ok, so not many (or nobody) liked the prewious 101st WIP, so I reworked alot things, I hope you like it more now.

Kristian wink_o.gif

I assume you do realise that the waist belt on that model

is far too low down. As a rule of thumb, a man's belt line is

usually approximately two head-heights down from the line of

his shoulders.

Your German infantryman seems to suffer from the same

problem, to a lesser extent.
