~Pantera~ 0 Posted October 4, 2007 BIS said they they made realistic moon phases or w/e and stars. So what if in the editor you set it to a date in which an eclipse is supposed to happen? Will you see it?

mathias_eichinger 64 Posted October 4, 2007 Hi all! I just checked the eclipse and at least the rather famous total eclipse of August 11, 1999 is not modelled. As I witnessed it in Central Europe, this one would have inspired BIS the most I think. Or is Sahrani (with Ramadi, where I checked) not supposed to be close to Europe? Greetings Mathias

celery 8 Posted October 5, 2007 It would be way cool to have eclipses in the game, especially benefiting cutscenes, plots and atmosphere. There have been three eclipses in the near past that would affect Sahrani: http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse....21T.GIF http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse....22A.GIF http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse....11P.GIF
Thunnder Bunny 0 Posted October 5, 2007 I'd even settle for an occasional falling star at night, It should be do-able. With HDR turned on, it might be impossible for a day eclipse to work....or at least seeing the eclipse. I could be wrong though.
stegman 3 Posted October 5, 2007 Remember not to look directly at it! It could permanently damage your eyes!
rundll.exe 12 Posted October 5, 2007 Would this help? Lets put that thing in game, Im anoyed by the sun/HDR quite often ontopic: I dont think the engine is capable of doing an eclipse: It can only have one global light source, and its not "really" there in the star constelation I guess (no chance the moon can go in front of it) But ill be surpirsed i it does
fasad 1 Posted October 5, 2007 longitude = -40.02latitude = -39.95 [/img]http://img503.imageshack.us/img503/4228/sahranivi7.jpg[/img] In ArmA/OFP, the latitude is inverted, so that negative latitude means North. Sahrani is in the North Atlantic (the sun is to the south on the winter solstice).
sdoc 0 Posted October 5, 2007 Anyone tried to locate Sahrani with celestial navigation already? In order to see how well the night sky is modeled?
