Synide 0 Posted September 29, 2007 Apart from the obvious additional content over in the mod folder and missions etc., (which is not a problem) I'm concerned about the following... MD5 Checksums... <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> AddOns\Anims.pbo before = 6DBDFC297F34BB49F6A6BB4161AFDDE0 after  = 67F874A6C51AD3573AF5C977FA0DC17 ----------------------------------------- AddOns\ui.pbo before = 75499CC5ABD5B677734C01A8613F25C after = FB2B0C17F894956347F60F47E4162E ----------------------------------------- ArmAServer.exe before = 394FEB4CD49951BED7E627702120DA16 after = 58ADA358550CB3D543DF92EAEFF668 ----------------------------------------- ArmA.exe before = 04EA2065F9901DAD0E219D531FEDF840 after = FFD15B455BD512800F70C4F3710D8976 I'm sure the .exe changes are meaningless because the byte filesize difference is minute. And, I'm sure the ui.pbo change will not affect MP at all if people are running different versions. But I'm not so sure about the anims.pbo if people running different versions will have a problem when in an MP game. Also, if a Dedi Server is running with 'verifySignatures=1' AND has Queens Gambit installed and the client doesn't (or vice versa) then the result will be the player will get kicked or banned (if the server is set to do so) or worst they will get looked at sideways as possible cheats... Actually haven't tested to check this last... doing so now... food for thought... PS. BIS, I'm sure you could have left Anims.pbo & ui.pbo alone and included any alterations to said over in the mod folder... just not good chaps. Edit: After Testing... Quick Answer is... Don't worry about it, it's all ok. Long Answer is... 1. My ui.pbo & anims.pbo in the addons folder is different to the ui.pbo & anims.pbo on the server after updating the clientside to Queens Gambit. Why then did onDifferentData="kick (_this select 0)"; not eject my butt from the server when connecting? Even if you wouldn't use it in production 'cause  according to the biki it is a "very strict test, use sparingly". It should still detect that ui.pbo on my end is "signed pbo detected with a valid signature, but a different version than a server has..." and boot me... oh well. Conclusion, perhaps BIS signed addons bypass some internal check. Although, this seems illogical. Anyway, as far as having trouble with people that are Queens Gambit'a'fied and people that are not playing on a Signature server seems to be not a problem. Maddmatt 1 Posted September 29, 2007 If the files are changed, why is the version number left at 1.08? I wonder what changed. I haven't got QG yet though.
Flat!!! 0 Posted September 29, 2007 Because QG is not a patch...
bravo 6 0 Posted September 29, 2007 If the files are changed, why is the version number left at 1.08? I wonder what changed.I haven't got QG yet though. QG is an addon CD. Addons like the community do or will do.
SeppSchrot 0 Posted September 29, 2007 Although it is not a patch, remember it is a commercial product. They have to make sure in a way their addons won't spread as easily as community created addons.
Maddmatt 1 Posted September 29, 2007 Because QG is not a patch... Did you guys not read Synide's post? It changes original files like the anim.pbo. So obviously it is doing something that a patch is suppose to do. I know it's not meant to be a patch. But it's changing original files so that warrants a version number increase. bravo 6 0 Posted September 29, 2007 i wonder how the patch 1.09 and the Queens Gambit will work together..
smellyjelly 0 Posted September 29, 2007 1.09 will probably introduce these same changes.
Balschoiw 0 Posted September 29, 2007 That´s why the version number stays the same to keep it unified once 1.09 is released. Apart from that, a changed number in anims for example would kick all QG users from public servers for now.
Synide 0 Posted September 29, 2007 obviously all of you execpt 1 person actually read the first post in the thread...
xxbbcc 6 Posted September 29, 2007 There IS a patch after 1.08, which is the 1.08 Hotfix. It's possible that QG contains that which would explain the difference. It's just a guess, though.

It's just a guess, though. 1.08 hotfix made a seperate "animationhotfix.pbo". So it shouldn't have modified "anim.pbo".
xxbbcc 6 Posted September 29, 2007 Ok, I didn't know that. I don't have it installed.
Synide 0 Posted September 30, 2007 lol, although now i think about it he's probably quite right Maddmatt... the QG anims.pbo & ui.pbo alterations will be the hotfix stuff. Although, i don't seem to remember the hotfix altering the .exe's... And, just confirmed that, prior to QG my vanilla (without hotfix) ArmA when knelling and then getting up you'd do that little run thing. I remember with the hotfix that was fixed in the animationhotfix.pbo. Now after applying QG this animation has been fixed in the anims.pbo. Would be nice if they'd stated... Queens Gambit = a mod with included hotfix etc.
Q1184 0 Posted September 30, 2007 I also noticed it replaced Sara.pbo in the Arma\Addons folder... Damn, i should've done a backup first.
Synide 0 Posted September 30, 2007 I also noticed it replaced Sara.pbo in the Arma\Addons folder... Damn, i should've done a backup first. that would be incorrect according to md5 checksum the before and after sara.pbo in the ArmA/AddOns folder are exactly the same. sure you're not getting confused with the Sara_DBE1.pbo over in the DBE1 mod folder? As this is the 'new' Sahrani used with the QG mod... The only files that have changed in ArmA\AddOns is ui.pbo (and it's sig) and anims.pbo (and it's sig), apart from the newly added pbo's cutsceneAnims.pbo, dbe1.pbo & Desert2.pbo ( & there sig's). Jackal326 1182 Posted September 30, 2007 Well it had been stated prior to release that QG would be packaged with the "Final" version of 1.08 (which many people misudnertsood to mean it would be the "final" patch ever and a lot of crying, pissing and moaning ensued until someone stepped in and taught them how to read properly - then everything was clear). I imagine this "Final v1.08" is a culmination of v1.08 and the Hotfix merged into one single patch.
Mabes 0 Posted September 30, 2007 Even if it does have a few changes like that it does NOT keep you from joining other ArmA servers. I have it and I was playing on our server (which is not yet running QG) and I got in with no problems.
