plasman 0 Posted September 27, 2007 Quote[/b] ]UN VEHICLES. By Plasman Version 1.0 ----------------------------- 1/ Description : Includes UN M113 with side armor plates (slighly improved the vehicle's armor to 180 instead of the default 150), UN M113 ambulances. Both vehicles have customised interiors. Added the UN Land Rovers fm my previous UN addon. This is a self standing addon: vehicles come with their own crewmen. UN Soldiers addon not required. 2/ Installation : Just unzip the UN_Vehicles.pbo into the Addons folder of ArmA (or your custom addons folder). 3/ The UN Vehicles can be found in the editor under: Independent - UN_Vehicles 4/ Release notes: Known bug: For some unknown reason normal mapping is not working on the us_soldier_b and M113 models. As a consequence the M113's side armor plates appear flat when you get close to the vehicle, and the UN driver's helmet has a blue helmet strap. The normal mapped textures are included in the addon but are not functional, hopefully the problem will be solved with a future ArmA patch. 5/ Thanks to the people who helped me with their precious advices and thanks of course for your past and future feedbacks/comments. 6/ Disclaimer: This addon is not an official BIS addon and is distributed without any warranty, so use it (in whole or in part) entirely at your own risk. JBâ„¢ 1 Posted September 27, 2007 Do you have any real life pics of an M113 with that type of armour on? Nice to see a `white` UN vehicle that isn't all nice and clean for a change.
plasman 0 Posted September 27, 2007 Do you have any real life pics of an M113 with that type of armour on? No. Actually it's inspirated by the side armor seen on UN Warriors AIFV. However uparmored M113 do exist (but their armor look different, and modelling them would have involved the use of o2) There is an actual project -called Infantry Fighting Vehicle Light (see herebelow pict)- which I also used as a source of inspiration. JBâ„¢ 1 Posted September 27, 2007 I thought so mate , It looked too much like UK chobham armour from a warrior and you even used UK markings ( 31[] ) which look like they come from a UK vehicle. I was a warrior gunner/commander in Bosnia `93 under the UN so I have a few pics with the same markings on them. nice work all the same mate WD!

LoFFeN 0 Posted September 27, 2007 GJ! I really like the "reactiv armor" on it. Maybe you also can reskin and mod the M1A1 Abrams aswell... Didn't the UN use them during the mid 90's down in Bosnia?
plasman 0 Posted September 28, 2007 Didn't the UN use them during the mid 90's down in Bosnia? Just as JB said. But as far as I know (well OK I'm not an armor specialist) they are rather called composite armor (or Chobham fm the British armor experiment center located there) in order not to be mistaken for ERA (Explosive Reactive Armor). You'll notice I just slightly improved the overall armor value of the M113 (by 30 pts), it's because the vehicle is not entirely protected by these armor plates.
