GIJOE94 0 Posted September 17, 2007 Hi evrybody, I've started getting into addon making recently and I've made a (Crappy) model of some car and called it GIJOECAR (Don't let the name put you off, it's based on a real one-the opel kadette e). But I need some help. I need some one who can polish of the model by making it driveable and generaly rounding it off at the front and wheels ect..., some one who can make a good config, and someone who can make a good texture. After it's release I might make an addon team making cars for arma. Thanks for listning folks!
MehMan 0 Posted September 17, 2007 So you've started modeling, which is a good step, but you aren't willing to finish it? I guess you're modeling in O2, so I suggest that you check Col. Klinks tutorial: http://www.dc3d.co.nz/Tutorials/cheyenne.htm It's a good start to give you an idea of things. And show screenshots if you want any help. GIJOE94 0 Posted September 17, 2007 I can't finnish it because it's my first model in 02 and I don't realy have that much knowlage in moddling. I'll try and get a picture of it and post it here.
cl10k 0 Posted September 17, 2007 GiJoe please not again. No one will finish modelling for you! Modelling is like a very personal handwriting - everyone does it a bit differently - it is really a pain to rework or continue a model somebody else made - unless it's made in a "professional" or "common" (sry missing the right english word here) way. How will you ever achieve a good result if you give up that easily. My first advice would be to skip working in o2 and to try a programm like wings3d (freeware). i know some people here fancy o2 but imo it's quite hard for a beginner to learn because the way you place your vertices and polys is a bit "oldfashioned" (no offence - please no fight argument about that topic). Wings is easy to learn and use and has an export to 3ds so you can easily import your model into o2 and there are tons of videotutorials for it (just google wings3d and video tutorial). It's not that hard to round up things. If you learned how to build your basic car then finish it and learn to improve your model. Texturing and Scripting is something completly different. But texturers are a rare species around here and you will need a good modell to motivate people to do the finishing.. no offence and just my 2 cents
GIJOE94 0 Posted September 17, 2007 Ok thanks for your help. I'll try my best to finnish it off. Can you tell me, though, how to make the car a bit smaller ingame because at the moment it's absolutely masive!
nephilim 0 Posted September 17, 2007 scale it.. i think it was shift+ctrl+rmb (long time lol...)
GIJOE94 0 Posted September 17, 2007 Thanks. Right, I've added a front seat and steering wheel/dashboard. The only things I can't do is make the wheels turn and make the car drive and set the driver's position. I'm quite proud of it actualy.
Flat!!! 0 Posted September 17, 2007 Here is a Tut on how to get your car working in game with turning wheels etc: <Click Me> It's For OFP but most of it still fits ArmA...
GIJOE94 0 Posted September 17, 2007 Cheers. This will realy help. I'll start it now.
Col. Faulkner 0 Posted September 17, 2007 Is this the same model as the Alfa Romeo?
BraTTy 0 Posted September 17, 2007 Nice work GIJOE94 I just want to comment that when I started.I did the crate, then a few buildings of my own, then Col Klinks Piper Cheyene a few times before I got the hang of it. Then I did that WWI Fokker DR1 Red Baron if you ever played OFP you may remember it. It takes 20-40 models till you get the hang of it.And if you've seen my modelling, it will take at least 20-40 more till I get better edit: Keep at it, but if you had posted some pics either: People could tell you what to do from here or Someone may like it and offer help
Col. Faulkner 0 Posted September 18, 2007 Are you going to show us a screenshot of it? I always like seeing other people's stuff. It's a forum rule that if you start a thread about an addon you must show a pic of it (and if it isn't a rule, then it should be ) GIJOECAR sounds like a 1960s Gerry Anderson series! Like a cross between "Supercar" and "Joe 90". Make it fly and go underwater too for extra coolness!
Kristian 47 Posted September 18, 2007 Cheers. This will realy help. I'll start it now. GIJOE. are you STILL wishing to make that arma 1943 mod. I dont think many will help you as all of your "team-mates" abandon you... Â sorry for the queta, accidently I do like WW2 mods, but I dont think that your way like "I order, you do" wont work... maybe you could not be the leader, but try to help other mods, for example helping the Burning sands 42, I am sure theyll need lotsa help buddy,
GIJOE94 0 Posted September 18, 2007 Thanks for all your help and support guys. 1. I will try get some screenshots 2. Good Idea Kristian, I may ask if I could join Burning sands 42 mod. 3.No it's not the same as the alfa romeo. I'm saving that till I'm better at makiing models. It took me ages to realise how easy MAKING (As in just making a simple model without conig ect..) could be. I thought you had to use create/plane and stuff and build your way up. But then I realised abot faces and stuff so I thought I'd give it a try. Once more, thanks for all your help and support!
