Recommended Posts

Hello, A friend and I would like to edit projectiles in ArmA to make them more realistic, How would we go about doing so? Would we edit the weapon .cfg?? or what?

Specifically we want to remove the smoke from the M136 projectile, and place the tank muzzle flash effect at the rear of the M136.

We need help almighty modders  notworthy.gif  !!

from the verry little I know about modelling, i think in order to change the muzzle flash you would have to open the M136 model and put the right muzzle flash behind the M136.

About the smoke: I absolutely don´t know anything about changing the smoke icon_rolleyes.gif

Well, you could script a "back-blast" like the one Earl/Suchey et al did for their Marine Assault Pack AT weapons (specifically the SMAW and Javeline). I'm no scripter, but I would recommend you download the Marine Assault Pack from an OFP addon website (probably OFP.info) and check how its done in there.

We at least need to get rid of the smoke on the projectile, tis very annoying and unrealistic.

And if there is any way to get the muzzle flash onto the AT4, as long as we dont have to cut off our arms or something, we will do whatever it takes to get that too. More info would be appreciated.

I don't think the launcher objects even support a "muzzle

flash" at all, so that approach won't work.

You could do it with setobjecttexture.

I'm in the weapons.pbo config now and not sure which we would edit to remove the smoke on the m136 projectile, would we be looking for the magazine class or the weapon class to edit?

Haha, I'm getting frustrated just reading this thread. I want to know too. Perhaps PMing DMarkwick or Maddmatt would give you an actual answer, as they have been editting effects for quite a few versions now.

Well, i managed to fix the projectile on my own, as for the backblast, we are still searching for an answer. This is realistic enough, but it would be better with a backblast.

Could you please share how you editted the smoke trail for the rockets?

Edited the thrust directly (now not only is there limited smoke, but the projectile now runs on its own like in real life).

See the thread titled "Realism mod." in this forum subtopic.
