I keep seeing that it was widely known that ArmA was meant to be a gap-filler, half-baked game. I didn't know it, even though I played OFP for quite some time.

Can you please show me where was this officially stated? Because I don't remember seeing it on the order page. As far as I remember, I paid for a finished, completed product. I did expect some bugs, but I also expected a reasonably well-written, well-performing game. What I got is indeed a half-working, unreliable beta (with all the patches so far.)

What you say could be a basis for a lawsuit against BIS (or the publisher), so please tell me, where such information was shown. I bought the 1.06 US release and I most definitely had no idea, but if this was really known, then BIS/Atari falsely advertised this product.

If it was not said (as I believe), then you (and many other customers, including me) were lied to, as simple as that. Some people (maybe a lot?) might be ok with the game as it is, but I personally think it's next to worthless even at 1.08.

I haven't played ArmA for more than a month now - I just cannot get myself to launch it anymore. It's funny (and quite sad, too) that I have more "fun" reading this forum than playing the game. That said, I also get angrier and angrier every time I read about the new game and expansion. The shady, lowly approach that BIS used to trick people into buying the game will get back to them eventually.

To say something on-topic, too, run animations are one of the reasons I stopped playing ArmA: I constantly get killed because I cannot stop while running at the point I want to, because the run animation is still playing and I run several meters more.

Can you show use a link where it states anything you have mentioned- Because i to didn't realise this when i paid for this product, And if you cannot come back with the info, then i'll take it you are the one that has been misinformed.

Don't know anymore where exactly, somewehre in the OFP forum years ago (2004). The working title was "Flashpoint 1.5" and was always said to be in beetween OFP and Game2... a gapfiller!

And I thinks it was quite O.K. for a gapfiller.

I'm glad for you, if you do. I might, too, reconsider, if the major bugs are all fixed without forcing me to buy anything. (Hell, in that case I might even think about buying the expansions.)

I´d rather say you exposed yourself a bit here. Noone hinders you to create a CTF, DM , whatever. Does Marek say that they will limit Arma to non-CTF gameplay ?

It´s up to you to create a CTF or DM if you are so badly after that outdated gamestyle.

Only knowledge could be the limit...

That guy saying that you're an unpaid game tester is full of shit, but it's true that ArmA was considered to be ofp 1.5 when it launched. Since then it has gone a bit beyond its original niche but it certainly isn't a fresh game.

It's ofp 1.75, maybe.

Don't get me wrong, my problem is not with the game being based on OFP. I like OFP very much and I would've bought ArmA if it was nothing else but a facelift and a faster engine with the same original OFP:Res content and story. Looking at the game as it is, I think it would've been better, too.

As it turned out - in my opinion - it's not OFP 1.75, but a bad beta, so I, too, feel like a beta tester, especially in light of the announcement of ArmA 2 and the expansion. It's been less than 6 months here in the US since the release and there are still major bugs in the game which will not be fixed anytime soon, as it seems.) I'd consider it an advanced version only if the entire game would've advanced as compared to OFP, but I think that didn't happen in most areas. I know that many people are content with it as it is and I'm happy for them but it doesn't help my feeling of being cheated.

I'm sorry for getting off-topic again, this discussion would probably belong to the disappointed and/or the expansion thread. I won't reply here anymore to avoid hijacking the thread.

If you had read all of the topic and posts, instead of jumping on just one of the few i have added here, Then you would see that this has nothing to do with me making CTF maps. I am talking about how the Animation/Transitions ruin CTF/DM.

Also, read what Cave Guerilla has said and quoted Bis as saying about Arma 2. Thats where i got the no CTF/DM from in Arma2. Infact, like i said "read all the posts" then come back when you have all the facts right.
