strictly as a desert camo i think it looks great, many weapons i've seen have just been painted a light tan overall, though you might want to consider simulating chipped paint near areas such as the magwell, carrying handle, and raised portions on the gun.

In my opinion the green shading isnt desert like.

It's up to him how he wants to make it look. Depends on the sort of desert too I guess. I like G36s in nearlly all guises so I can't / wont complain. Be happy for what you have / are getting.
