NeMeSiS 11 Posted July 20, 2007 My FPS seems much more unstable, without bushes my FPS is higher, but when im close to bushes my FPS seems to be even lower then in 7.6. The big difference is very annoying so ill probably change back to 7.6.

kklownboy 43 Posted July 21, 2007 Check out this thread http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17756417 ok, i did, i see a lot of confusion, then its ok, then theres the issue of noise that is found to be ok, then the lack of gain in 3dmark(who the ** cares) and most of the posters there have uber tweaked rigs that are really only for the bench marking, then then they get confused again and, but seem to think the 7.7s are just fine except for the change in 3dmark. What a waste of my life!give me back my 15min...
kronzky 5 Posted July 21, 2007 Can somebody who has it installed tell me whether this is actually an update to the drivers, or just to the Control Center? (The posts in the overclocker's thread were a bit contradictory.) I've had MAJOR issues using 7.6 with an X1950 card, when running ArmA in windowed mode (horrible performance, colors way oversaturated, and everything way too dark), and had to go back to 7.3 to make it usable again. Update: I did take the plunge after all, and it looks like they fixed the issues with windowed mode in 7.6. It now runs and looks fine on my system. Wouldn't say that it's any faster than 7.3, but it's definitely a lot faster than 7.6...

stryker555 0 Posted July 22, 2007 Arma is crashing too much with Cat 7.7 compared to 7.6. Even though I had an FPS increase and IQ improvements with 7.7 im reverting to 7.6 as that was more stable in Arma online games.

FRidh 0 Posted July 22, 2007 well, I did not notice any difference either with my X1950 GT AGP. I still can't put the graphics any higher than 'low', and I still can't turn on the shadows, AA or AF, because then I get huge artifacts.
sniper pilot 36 Posted July 23, 2007 I put my view distance to 10k and it was only lagging as much as when i had it at 2k... very playable, but too laggy for comfort... Anyways, I think its an improvement...
*QcEP*BlackHawk 0 Posted July 23, 2007 As far as I'm concerned IQ has taken a hit with 7.7. Textures at a distance aren't as crisp, I could almost say blurry. In arma performance is the same as 7.6 but I do get a 100pts increase on my 3dmark05 score but on a 13k+ score it is nothing especialy since I lost some IQ. Going back to 7.6 btw I got a x1950xt 512mb
spirit 0 Posted July 23, 2007 I have changed from 7.6 to 7.7. Some info from my system: 2.4 cpu, Intel Pentium 4 1,5 gb memory ati 1950x 256 mb Plenty of space on harddrive. I began playing arma at 1.05. I had at that time a ati radeon 9800. I had on low settings a nice fps going. Arma moved up on patches. I had crap fps and decided to buy a new videocard as it seemed the best option to improve. It was meant as a but to have some fun until in the future i buy a new machine. I had good fps in games (45 or higher). For unkown reasons after upgrading my catalyst thing and/or armed assault patches (i tried all) my fps goes up to 29-35 if i point to useless directions but when i point to soldiers or get in forest and towns my fps goes under 10. Moving to older catalyst gives me nothing. I tried it. Moving to lower patches of arma ... gives me nothing. I tried: -v-sync off -Maxmem 512 -Windowed mode -Very high graphics -Very low graphics - Shadow off, shadow on etc...etc No matter what i do and this is the crap about it. I can turn it on very low or on very high but i get the same crap 10 fps. SOMEBODY HAS A SUPERIOR IDEA? I get out of options. yes harddrive has be defragged, i have no virus scan on while playing etc etc
*QcEP*BlackHawk 0 Posted July 23, 2007 Might be your cpu if you play a mission with lots of AI. It kills my frame rate too but its still playable, sometimes barely playable but still is. I doubt its driver related but who knows ...
