Sniper Tutorial/Sniper School

Im glad this topic is alive =].

Im still yet to find a player on a server that joins me in a sniper team. That would be nice.

Whats the job of the spotter besides using binoculars and spotting enemies? (just to make sure being a spotter isnt boring)

Giving close range protection for the sniper. If you mean my map, the spotter is pretty much the main character of the story.

Spotter is very important in sniper team.

- had to define the area where the team can engage without moving or shifting.

- identification of target sector, primary target location and sets Target Reference Points (TRP).

- makes range cards.

- checks the wind.

- announces where the round went.

- responsible for the team's security.

In games its different because lot guys only want to pistols.gif

How "stealthy" can we be when fighting A.I? does crawling really slow helps us, or does A.i have x-ray vision?

I've been able to get at least 10feet from an AI without it seeing me, took me a while and patience. Sometimes you think they are blind...

The M24 and M107 are very different weapons. Their ballistics en route are different because of the different round (7.62mm vs 12.7mm)

Nope. Not in ArmA. In ArmA, the ballistics are almost exactly the same. The M24 actually has a flatter trajectory, too, since it has a higher muzzle velocity by 50 m/s.

You are most likely correct. I apologize for my jumping-the-gun so to speak. The main point I wanted to make is not to confused the 300m vs 500m zero with the actual ballistics of the round.

You could make a very "artillery shell" trajectory seem super "long range" just by zeroing the scope such that the round lands above the crosshairs.

I remember I was in a sniper school for OFP. I quit after the 1st day.

I just thought I'd say that because this thread reminded me of it.
