rabbity 0 Posted September 3, 2007 Col. Faulkner what this picture means ?US army used black boots sand boots are used now with Marpat or ACU if you wanna discrediting me first check if something is true or not, than give opinions like this is weird pic1 what concerns people using BIS vanila units - BIS made wrong color of boots for ACU, it should have more saturation than in game, other types of vests are used with ACU, they are ACU pattern or sand-green solid colour MOLLE pattern such vest as BIS made to US soldiers i haven't seen on any picture, something like woodland pattern, is it exist in real life ? BIS also gave unreal camo to SLA, most of communist countries used khaki or rain pattern uniforms speaking of ACU's.. as for the Woodland IBA with ACU, I know with my unit we haven't acquired the rest of our ACU stuff in yet so it's still around, I know plenty of units that wear woodland stuff with ACU. Hell, I've seen a few infantry platoons wearing black OTVs
PVT.Killer1 0 Posted September 3, 2007 Hey Guys, just wanted to get a quick informal poll, since I can't decide myself. There's a lot of good U.S. infantry addons out there, but which ones do you guys use when playing as standard U.S. inf? Which ones do you find the most realistic or just best looking.I'm not making this a my addon is better than yours, but a thread to see what people think is the most accurate and realistic depiction of modern day U.S. Army Infantry, so when I make missions I use the right inf. Here's generally what I am choosing between. 4IB U.S. Infantry - In house units, not available to the public yet, but if you search the forums you can find some pics. Personally what I think the most accurate, what I've been using, but lately been having doubts about realism Woodland BDU - I know they are going out of service but I found this mod to be excellent. Cam McDonald - Nuff Said, very nice, however I doubt the realism looking factor Multicam - Very nice, however I don't know if U.S. Army is actually gonna switch over to this, but if they do then maybe I'd use em, can anybody clarify? Thanks for all your help, DO NOT FLOOD THIS THREAD WITH BS, i'm trying to get very open honest opinions about uniform realism factors. Well I used to use Cameron's 1st Infantry division's replacement pack in game. But I got bored with them and I switched over to using Jonny's US Marines Desert replacement for regular infantry and Woodland Replacement Marpat for SF soldiers uniforms for a little bit. What you have to remember is that you should not have to use US Troop addons as you can just use the default troops and have more people be able to play and then use the replacement pack of your choice. Right now I like Jonny's replacement and the 31st MEU unit replacements. But Camerons and many others are great and it all comes down to preference. If you want to you can make a bunch of different addon folders and choose if you want the BDU, Marines, Army soldiers. But like I said don't use the addons when making your missions. Not as many will be able to play. You can use the replacement packs yourself and recommend it for everyone.
USSRsniper 0 Posted September 3, 2007 Don't use any addons, because they are just retextured units.....
Commando84 0 Posted September 4, 2007 i do vanilla but in ofp resistance i did almost every addon out there my addons folders where around 9 gigs at most back in the days... i think arma vanilla stuff look way much better out of the box than the old ofp soldiers did, so thats why i haven't gone awol on them, but sometimes i play with skavens racs and rhs soldiers but there its like ussrsniper says that that its the custom gear and weapons that attract more btw rabbity whats that red flash light thingy that soldier has on his left sholder? I always wondered what it does? Is it a red flashlight or some signal thingy?
Shashman 0 Posted September 4, 2007 Red lensed lights cannot be seen more than a few metres away. It's just a normal flashlight with a red filter rather than a red lens so they can't be seen at a distance. A red lens shows up well in infra-red which was the old stand-by night scope... Col. Faulkner 0 Posted September 4, 2007 The red light also doesn't ruin your night vision, which I think is the real reason for the red filter in the first place. A "field expedient" in the old days if you only had an ordinary torch was to hold the head of the torch in your fist and let it shine through your fingers. Edit: By "night vision" here I mean dark-adapted eyes. Eyes that have been in darkness or semi-darkness or in red light long enough for rhodopsin to be regenerated rendering them more sensitive to reduced light conditions. Clavicula_nox4817 0 Posted September 4, 2007 I like mine for the detail, and Cameron's because he has a lot of work into it.
Average Joe 0 Posted September 4, 2007 Cams and RHS retextures with Modwars soundpack, I wouldnt touch OFP port overs with a bargepole they would smash my idea of decent addons in ArmA so im waiting and will proceed to wait until some quality addons start arriving
