Bis, will ofp resistance be distributed like rh?

BIS:

Codemaster's press release for Resistance says:

"Due to launch at retail on June 21st and requiring the original game to play, ............"

That means that this is an upgradable version of OFP. That is, there won't be a new full version CD produced for this, just a new upgrade CD.

However...................

As was with Red Hammer and Ultimate Upgrade 3, will there be a separate and free downloadable ultimate upgrade patch that will include all essential coding changes but exclude the Resistance Campaign and possibly the new island?

Because if there won't be, the implication is that those that don't purchase OFP Resistance will no longer be able to join MP servers that install the expansion pack's newer version..... and that would be mean and nasty.

As always, looking forward to BIS' direct response.

It's expansion. Others should be still able to join MP games, though.

Games will maybee be seperated from ich other like others.

I prefer an upgrade. I would love to play the original campaign with nicer terrain. Let's wait for BIS comment.

So, if someone doesn't upgrade by purchasing the expansion pack and no free ultimate upgrade patch will be made available, those people will not be able to play on servers with the expansion pack installed.

I foresee a free netcode patch, an expansion, and a "Platinum" version including the original OFP, Resistance, and possibly also RH. That should keep OFP fresh on the store shelves, and a happy, growing online community will keep spreading the gospel to prospective buyers.

I'd say those who don't buy this upgrade don't deserve to play online, heheh.

If this upgrade really will include a non-Directplay based network code, then it's a must-have for any online gamer!

BTW, I hope the storyline and plots in Resistance will be better than Red Hammer. You could really feel that it was CM and not BIS that made that.

I'd say they'll do exactly like red hammer, game in dublin ran out of the upgrade packs but I got one from EB so it was all good

On another note, can any of you lot see the images of resistance in the nesw section of Operation Flashpoint Network because mine juct come up with those annoying red 'X's

Really? I was under the impression that this is what we already had. Aren't our maps 10 km by 10 km? In my book that makes an area of 100 sq. km. No?
