bravo 6 0 Posted June 26, 2007 yup, its overheating for sure. looks like alot of people are facing this problem.. the summer is coming and it shouldnt be aproblem but it is. Another optimization and improvement could fix this problems no?
NoRailgunner 0 Posted June 26, 2007 Some people have the same probs too. Maybe its "only" an ATI bug? Overheating can be excluded. Fixes and other hints are welcome
scruffy 22 Posted June 26, 2007 I have got the same grass layer spikes, at least the one on the first picture. I think it's an ATI issue because every ATI user I play with sees them and the nvidia users don't. I don't think it is an overheating issue as it happens on all settings (except very low terrain, as that disables the grass layer) and with a fresh booted pc in the cool basement with settings where the pc is bored

Beagle 684 Posted June 27, 2007 I dont know if this problem ist related this the one in Commente before in simlar thread. Quote[/b] ]Concerning the mentioned MSI 7900GS. I had the same Problems. it turned out as a production mishap, that I noticed as I removed the heat sink plate. A margin of MSI NV7900GS cards with 512MB do have incorrect placed heat pads on the memory chips. A small cause large effect.Problem was solved with some drops of heat conducting paste. stompy 0 Posted June 27, 2007 Im getting same issues since 1.08, not only confined to the ground, sometimes there will be a spike/spikes in mid-air. AMD 3800 x2 2 gb ram x1950 pro 512 pcie win xp pro x64 catalyst 7.5 and hotfix both same, yet to try 7.6 All settings normal except terrain and post process (low), res at 1280x1024, VD 1500. ALT-TABing out off and back in to game always makes it go away for me. Not overheating, card isnt going over 60-63 degrees. (Everest lets me see the temps in G15 LCD) Will get some screenies. Dwarden 1125 Posted June 27, 2007 ok i found #3 too ... it's again grass layer texture (i think) ... so i guess all 3 and similar ones are related to this ... verified on X1950pro 512MB version with 7.6 drivers ...
NeMeSiS 11 Posted June 27, 2007 Coordinates? Wondering if i can see them too..
NoRailgunner 0 Posted June 27, 2007 #2 on the otherside of the road to the island where the big huge "tree-spike" droped down. or from screen #1 you cross the bridge and only few meter left to the road. There are some grass layer texture in the wood and some hilltops too (like #3).
Dwarden 1125 Posted June 27, 2007 ok verified #3 too ... in windowed mode just to be sure ... looks like this are Arma bugs with ATI rendering or some general ATI driver bugs
NoRailgunner 0 Posted June 27, 2007 Are these bugs/probs easy to fix? Maybe with next Hotfix/Patch??

fasad 1 Posted September 5, 2007 Yes, I have reported this bug on the BTS. It's a strange one, I suspect it might be caused by an error when Visitor3 imports the Satellite/Layer mask.
NoRailgunner 0 Posted September 10, 2007 I still got those ugly grass layer bug ATI Pro 1950 256MB (with 7.8 & 7.9 driver) Location HF22 (others are at and close by Isla de Victoria): 1st pic 2nd pic 3rd pic Any particularly good solutions?
volkov956 0 Posted September 10, 2007 vietcong tunnels! I have never seen that even with a video card that was overheatin but I will go see those zones and see whats up
Jack-UK 0 Posted September 11, 2007 Ive also got an X1950 PRO and have seen these grass layer bugs in many places on Sahrani... Theres one along the south/south east coast of N. Sahrani next to the road leading into one of the little base things... lol And another on the north coast of N Sahrani just south east of the mountain range. I think its an ArmA bug.. i dont think a particular graphics card/driver could do this But prove me wrong!
ArMoGaDoN 0 Posted September 13, 2007 hmm, 1950 here too, but never seen this, unless looking through a tele-sight.... the grass-layer hiding thing looks like that at distance, perhaps mixed with LOD problems - could it cause this??
Dwarden 1125 Posted September 14, 2007 ok confirmed that it's ATI related bug ... (aka worth report to ATI support website so they notice) with Catalyst 7.9 WHQL at square 'Ie 30' http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/8572/snag027rh0.jpg
