After effects of Satchel's sound-addon

Recommended Posts

I noticed that after removing Satchel's "OFP Dynamic Soundreplacement"-pack there are quite a few sounds missing in OFP.

Very often when you give your mean orders, you don't here wich number. i.e. 2:get in chopper. In this sentence somtimes you only here "get in chopper".

And when the soldier replies with "roger" sometimes you only hear the radio-clicking but no voice.

Another distinctive error is "FIRE" and "CEASE FIRE" when you're piloting a chopper. Sometimes there is no voice, but you can still read the commands written in yellow.

Only solution I found was to uninstall OFP completely and re-install.

If this has been posted before. Then I'm sorry. If it has'nt then now you smile.gif

I havent installed the pack, but I know its just an addon pbo and a new config.cpp. How can it remove sounds if removed? Did you put the old config.bin back?

why in Gods name would you remove it? I`d sooner delete the whole game off the hard drive before removing this awesome mod. lol

Satchel did a very Good Job with his Soundmod, and since he (they) had no support fron the developer, it's quite normal that there are a few Bug's introduced.

(Just think of 1.30)

The dynamic Range soundmod does indeed chabnge a lot of values, even in conjunction with other Mods, like Aeron Ash's Real West choppers, were it replaces the 20 mm Autogun with the Standard 30mm Cannon of the standart OFP AH-1.

Well I'm not that fond on using usermade addons due to the fact they more often than not cause bugs in OFP.

This addon is no exception. smile.gif

oh and the two sounds you hear the most in the game (AK's and M16's) sound just plain terrible and are too similar.

All in all I prefer the original sounds.

That's only my opinion and I'm entitled to have one wink.gif

I can´t verify missing sounds after you deinstall (delete) DynamicRange.pbo from the /Addons folder and config.cpp from the /BIN folder, replacing it with the original config.bin you have backuped first-

although it´s not necessary to delete the DynamicRange.pbo from the /Addons folder to get back to old standard sounds and state; erazing the config.cpp from the /bin folder and replacing it with the original (Version 1.42) config.bin is already sufficent to revert back.

Maybe your addon alters some "system-files" in OFP ?

Maybe f*de ?

I dunno.... confused.gif

Atleast when I re-installed OFP, everything was back to normal again.

How many people have downloaded it? 100 1000 more??

How many complaints? 5 50 less?

Strike average says your a MINORITY group. smile.gif

Its always the same crowd complaining about this mod. confused.gif

I suspect hardware concerns over soundmod bugs.

Why dont the complainers of the mod post their system specs on a seperate post to compare HW. Reckon` youll find simularities for sure.

cheers

mick

I got it and I noticed that the M2's dont engage all choppers. Example the CH-47 could go through a field of M2's and not one would engage it. Also Im missing a song Seventh's song Lifeless. But all in all I like the new sounds they are more imersive. If you could fix those bugs Sachel I would have no problems with the mod. Lata

I got rid of it by deleting the config.cpp and the pbo, and then placing the original config.bin back. First I didnt delete the pbo and some sounds were still not the original... Which is rather weird but aint the only weird thing in this world tounge.gif
