Dogtags 0 Posted June 20, 2007 So we are getting a fix today or tomorrow?.....bloody hope so Well Securerom said that but that was coming from their customer service side and not their developers so I would take that comment with a grain of salt really. Zorasht 0 Posted June 20, 2007 I have emailed securom again, since I had no news from them since las week and they just copy and paste the previous response. So useless. Why they just don't release the 1.08 exe with the previous protection version while the try to find a solution? That would at least allow us to play the game. And then, if they want, the can keep investigating what's wrong, instead of using us as guinea pigs Please, do something, becouse it's been more than a week since we cannot play the game. Zorasht 0 Posted June 20, 2007 Securom has solve the problem, at least for me. I paste below the instructions and the link Quote[/b] ]Hello, Please rename your original 'ARMA.EXE', (located here G:/GAMES/ARMA/ARMA.EXE), to 'ARMA.OLD'. Then click on the link below or copy and paste it into your web browser. From the 'File Download' window click 'Open' and extract the new 'ARMA.EXE' into the same folder and re-start the application. The link for the new file is: http://www.securom.com/support....rma.zip Please let us know if this has worked for you. If the problem persists, please send another analysis file of the latest executable to us. BF2_Trooper 0 Posted June 20, 2007 Seems to be the link to the file I already tried with no sucess ... I am still waiting for another reply from securom ... nothing within 24 hours  Which problem are you having?  The 7001 bug or the game simply just not booting up? Has anyone with the 7001 bug tried this at all?

Maddog011 0 Posted June 20, 2007 Nope it doesn't work for me........shit.
aliengmr 0 Posted June 20, 2007 for this fix to work must you have 1.08 installed? im assuming that, just not sure
aliengmr 0 Posted June 20, 2007 im guessing that there is a fix for both versions of the game. because now i get a wrong disk inserted error, which at this point isnt necessarily a bad thing since an actual error message is better than nothing.
Maddog011 0 Posted June 20, 2007 That's because you are using 1.06 DVD.When you try 1.04 same shit happens again in fact nothing.
Electricleash 133 Posted June 20, 2007 Just tried the download linked .exe..... nope not for me, doing exactly the same thing. It gave me an unlikely idea: Which was to keep hold of my 1.05 .exe and use it to try and start 1.08. Ultimately it didn't work, however it did bypass the securom, as in the spinning disk cursor and the tick boxes appeared and arma actually started, only to CTD moments later with: "Error compiling Vertex Shader VSTerrain" Heres to hacking around eh... It would be a miracle if it worked... hehehe What really makes me wonder is if this is really the support forum from BI since I only see sickboy doing hes best to help us out here and no official response to this problem... Not to speak to the poor situation handle of securerom that is only giving a not working solution to many by mail. It makes me wonder if we have bought a home made game from a bunch of kids or from 2 professional teams that can face situations like this in a professional manner. This not obviously the only game I play on-line and I play on-line for several years but this is surely the most ridiculous situation I face with a original software that no longer works with a update. As usual we will have to be patient.

Been playing computer games from 1981 to now and online games since Red Alert and have never come across anything like this before.
linuxkrn 0 Posted June 21, 2007 Tried the EXE and it gives me the message "Wrong disc inserted" now. So I guess it must be for another version of the game. Still no fix for me, and 1.06 crashes on a regular basis. I'm LUCKY to play for more than one hour without a CTD.
troop 0 Posted June 21, 2007 Edit: Scratch this idea;..see Maruks post below! Official hotfix on the way! Wild ride... The 'exchange ArmA.exe' (changing to 1.05 after patch to 1.08) part got my attention here;..something to check up for you guys. We need to check and compare the sizes of the different versions of ArmA 1.08 (505 and Atari) and *if* they are different, just try to exchange with someone else Arma.exe (working or not;..please include this info) 2-3 guys of either version should list, what they have got here: Only DVD versions! ArmA [505/1.08] exact size = ArmA [Atari/1.08] exact size = What gives? I will list later, since I'm @work.
AiRec1 0 Posted June 21, 2007 Thanks for the link Zorasht, this has worked for me, I'll have to play test to see how it goes. But at least I CAN play know, after two weeks of this mess, I hope that BI/publishers have learned there lesson, I bet they have lost loads of potential sales from this. If the expansion is to include a new patch, DUMP secureom
maruk 80 Posted June 21, 2007 Note, that US and European version use different disc so you can't download European exe and use it with US DVD and vice versa. As soon as Securom confirms the fix and provides us with new executables we're going to provide new official hotfix and updated patches using the updated executables. jdski 0 Posted June 21, 2007 My brother tried the alternative ArmA.exe from Securom and it didn't fix the 7001 error for him either. It's good news to hear an official statement that there is a fix underway though.
