Mobious 0 Posted April 27, 2007 I have searched for this on the forums but with the limited results I havent figured out how to host 2 ARMA servers on one box. Has anyone been able to host 2 ARMA server on one box with both servers having 2 different IPs?
sirex 0 Posted April 27, 2007 what size server's are you talking about pulling off by the way ?
Mobious 0 Posted April 27, 2007 As large as I can make it (32-64+). We have a really good box with 100mb connection. I currently run the [uSA] =IMO= Evolution server. Server Specs 1 Intel \ 2.4 GHz 1066FSB - Conroe \ Xeon 3060 (Dual Core) 2 Generic \ 1024 MB \ DDR2 667 ECC 1 Maxtor \ 250GB:SATA:7200RPM \ MaxLine Plus II Microsoft Windows 2003 - OS Standard Edition
zyklone 1 Posted April 27, 2007 Why would you need two different ips? I can't think of a single good reason.
sicilian 0 Posted April 27, 2007 Just use different ports (to fullfill salisans thought) server.exe -port=2302 server.exe -port=2306
stobbsy 0 Posted April 27, 2007 SES run 2 Armed Assault servers on the same box, same ip, just different ports. Although if you wanted to run 2 evolution servers it might struggle.
sirex 0 Posted April 27, 2007 i'll be very impressed if you get 2 64 slot servers running off one box. - every 64 player server i've been on seems to be running on the edge of its limits. (largly i expect due to the dual core situation atm).
Dwarden 1125 Posted April 27, 2007 You definitely need isolate each on its own core, i think small RAM size turns to be issue too ... and for complex mission and tons of AI such Xeon maybe way too slow (hint quad 1333/3GHz ones)
ck-claw 1 Posted April 27, 2007 Not sure if i've missed something ? but with have a dedi box-running 3 servers! Public,test/training,private - afaik they just have diff ports!
Nutty_101 0 Posted April 27, 2007 Not sure if i've missed something ? but with have a dedi box-running 3 servers! Public,test/training,private - afaik they just have diff ports! The problem is if two servers have the same map but different updates to the scripts it will mess them over. I had to run them under different profiles other wise it would run the wrong scripts (Same names though).
ck-claw 1 Posted April 27, 2007 Ah yeah sorry,we have the 3 separate arma folders setup on the box!
sirex 0 Posted April 27, 2007 are these three servers all large (50 or so slots) and in use at the same time ? if you have 3 empty servers, or 1 empty and 2 with 10 guys on, it'd make sense.
ck-claw 1 Posted April 27, 2007 Quite often 2/3 are running! but may not have players on? but usually public is playing evolution, while we do our clan stuff on one of the others. so yeah prob would sirex!
Nutty_101 0 Posted April 27, 2007 I have mine setup in the same folder. Renamed the Dedicated exe, have a seperate config, but one runs under a different login than the other. Works great so far.
Mobious 0 Posted April 28, 2007 ok my own dumb mistake. I had tried changing the port to something else in the past and it never worked. Welp I guess it would help if the shortcut or service pointed to the right server exe and config. DOH!.. Anyway.. I had planned on putting up a Hold server using Berzerk's maps. Other than Evolution what other maps or game mode would a be a good one to set up?
ck-claw 1 Posted April 28, 2007 Any by 'celery' are quite good maps! check the user mission thread! There are also some good other ones in there too!
