Mod-Tools. Will this usher in everything we yearn?

Recommended Posts

They probably all signed Non-Disclosure Agreements like when the original O2 came out to those select few (I know I had to). How far this covers is anyones guess - i.e. does it just cover the software itself, or does it go as far as even posting screenshots of the applications in action.

I think they are not allowed to post any screenshots, as they are kinda beta-testing. I can't remember the Non-Disclosure Agreement anymore but it would be great if BIS would post some screenshots if CWR is not allowed to.

Bumpedy bump bump.

So the US release is past us. Any updates/more info on the tools? I'm not asking for the release date or for the tools right now, just some more info on what's going on. Or is it status quo?

I think its simple to explain what is taking so long. Tutorials are currently beeing created I think. Untill that is not done yet the tools can't be released. Tools without tutorials = very much topics about how does this work.. how does that work.. a big mess wink_o.gif

On these forums? We'll get that anyway. Practically every released addon has a readme with installation instructions and we still have people posting that they can't get addons to work because they're putting the .ZIP file in their addons folder and not the PBO. That said, the mod-tools will be used predominantly by those who have experience with OFP's tools, so hopefully the learning curve wont be as steep.

I certainly don't hope that is the case, imo there are too few addonmakers currently, so some new people that either convert over from other games, or start learning from scratch would be a blessing, despite of these people starting their own topics to ask their questions while ignoring tutorials and sticky threads.

agreed!! Also there's to many add-on makers that will import what now is rubbish primitive ofp vehicles an add-ons which don't use arma engine to its potential, just quick an lazy!

So i'm all up for new upcoming modders of arma that have not been

part of ofp, an actuality want to move on, an not slow down the

development of arma add-ons, by importing what now is old rubbish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wink_o.gif

@rcspike.

lol are you referring to someone-we-know? I agree.

I dont get how the obvious difference in polygons between OFP and Arma can be overlooked and labelled "NICEGOODWORKKEEPITUPCANTWAITFORTHENEXTONE!".

And yes, make the mod-tools newbie-friendly please.

Addons will definitely usher in quite a few things... dependencies, impossible-to-join-servers with 2000mb addon packs, all kinds of fun things...

Edit: Don't get me wrong, I like addons and appreciate the work mod-makers do but I have the feeling that so many improvements and fixes are going to have to be made for this game by modders (because it is pretty sad in it's current state), things are going to become very complicated very fast... especially when we get 1405203 M4 replacement packs.
