Arma Community

This is not a complaint of any sort, more or less a question. I have played flashpoint for quite sometime now through the pc and the xbox and through observation over these forums I have noticed the community to be more of a bf2 one. Im more or less a tactically inclined player and I would like to see a community like flashpoint had/still has, reflecting my play. Since I will be picking up Arma May 1st when its released in North America I would like to know from the players that have it what its like online. Preferably comparing it to flashpoint as thats all I really play.

unless you're playing in a clan don't expect much teamplay on the public servers. arma online is quite chaotic, full of teamkillers, plus good maps are hard to find at the moment.

however, as a squad game it is quite enjoyable.

Actually in some ways public servers have for me gotten much better in last week or so (maybe cause i started playing v.early in the morning when the idiots have got bored and gone to bed and the only people left are the hardcore stoners straining there eyes at the screen)

If you have to play on a public server make sure that there's an admin there to boot distruptive or anti social players.

But for a proper Co-op experiance its best to join the servers Teamspeak/Ventrillo for proper comms!

I assure you the community you once knew is very much intact, however as the case may seem many public servers show the opposite. These guys will never be part of the true community and we can only hope that in time. Things will smooth out

Just throwing this out there, but perhaps the reason there are more BF2 type players in ArmA than there were in OFP, is cause there was no BF2 when OFP was released. :P

There are always going to be asshats in multiplayer games. The annonimity of the internet encourages it. Just have to get used to it.

If you join a public server and see all that non-cooperative, teamkilling, spawn raping behaviour then I can just say "welcome to the internet".  It may have brought many people of different creeds together to game together, but unluckily many left their etiquette back at home.  Nobody's gonna physically hurt you if you TK them right?  Ha!

But this is by no means an ArmA issue, far from it.  In fact the Arma community is just that, a community.  I also thing the OFP/Arma community is unique in the fact that a large proportion of the players ARE pretty smart and not TeamKilling f00ls.

Join a clan, do co-op or clan v clan...  That's what sets Arma apart from all the other see-it shoot-it games out there.  But sorry, to liken the arma community to the BF2 community is a bit like likening Angelina Jolie to Roseanne Barr.  IMHO
