Tricloid 0 Posted March 15, 2007 Well, i'd like to learn to mod for ARMA, so that i can make some mods that add different vehicles, mainly aircraft and tanks, I'm quite good with IT so i won't find it too hard but i need help to make a mod, so please help if you can
mattxr 9 Posted March 15, 2007 I'm quite good with IT so i won't find it too hard Ive got many qualifications in IT, and i cant make an addon. Trust me it its hard, but don't get me wrong, it can be done, it just takes time to learn all the aspects you have to go though. # www.opec.com has many tutorials to start you off. And i guess its best to wait for BIS to release the tools for making addons.
Tricloid 0 Posted March 15, 2007 Ty thanks, cause im thinking of making a British side with Navy, Airforce and Army
MehMan 0 Posted March 15, 2007 That's a pretty big plan you got there. Hope you've got the dedication to work on that. but www.ofpec.com offers a good start to modeling with the old tools.
ebud 18 Posted March 15, 2007 Your best bet is to start here and start small. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....t=39015 Your better off teaching yourself. Also I hope you have a LOT of freetime to learn
Tricloid 0 Posted March 15, 2007 Yeah i do, and i am starting small, adding maybe a tank or heli as a start, but thanks for the help guys
Col. Faulkner 0 Posted March 15, 2007 What sort of tank? What sort of helicopter? Â edit: I concur on the fact that it takes a long time. It's a hell of a lot of work for what you finally end up with, although it is good to see something you've made working in the game.
Tricloid 0 Posted March 15, 2007 Tankwise, the FV4034 Challenger 2 MBT Heliwise, the Westland Apache AH.Mk.1 both vehicle used in the British army currently Also my firends going to help aswell, so i'll have a duo, i don't think i'd be let into a team yet
BraTTy 0 Posted March 15, 2007 I was going to make a whole fleet of planes ( I still will) Just saying that I had help with my F4U Corsair and I'll bet that I have 5-6 months nonstop myself with all my spare time. A tank or chopper is a big project, takes weeks just to bugfix ONE addon edit: and people complain at Bis for some bugs when they release several addons Footmunch would be a good one to consult,he was doing a plane or two a month or better
Tricloid 0 Posted March 15, 2007 Ok..I don't have that much free time damn it! I knew it would take a while but thats shit long, I'm never going to get this finished, i can't be bothered
Col. Faulkner 0 Posted March 15, 2007 Other already-established modding teams have the same modern British stuff already planned, anyway. If you just want to play with British equipment then you just need to wait a bit. There are already ArmA soldier models "reskinned" to look like they are wearing British DP combat suits and you can even get some SA80 and LSW models (you can find them on this forum). With the default ArmA M16s you can even pretend they are UKSF (sort of)
max power 21 Posted March 15, 2007 There are all kinds of tutorials and explained scripts at the Operation Flashpoint Editting Centre. Searching through their resources and their forums will likely give you all the help you need.
MehMan 0 Posted March 15, 2007 Ok..I don't have that much free time damn it!I knew it would take a while but thats shit long, I'm never going to get this finished, i can't be bothered Ah don't give up so fast! It's worth a shot, you don't have to have 8 hours a day free for this, an hour here an hour there and you'll get enough free time and you'll start learning and improve. Col. Faulkner 0 Posted March 15, 2007 In any case it's largely academic since there are no Arma modding tools out yet (yes, OK, I know it is technically possible to do some half-finished things already). In the meantime you could do some more general research on 3D modelling, mapping and how to use graphics tools to create textures.
oyman 0 Posted March 16, 2007 I was shocked to see no one posted http://www.ofpec.com/ yet. You should try something smaller and model some boxes or a go kart before you go onto a tank
