Luciano 0 Posted March 14, 2007 The demo is out and the game will be released on 28th of March. Looks pretty tight. The demo is 1.2 GB and pretty good. I was thinking of abandoning such games even though I was an old school C&C fan. Well after playing the demo, I can tell you its pretty well done. The graphics and everything. New features like being able to fortify any civilian building on the map and make it your garrison. The GDI have some cool new units, but nothing special. On the other hand, the NOD has a pretty cool mech (really strong also.) I think I might buy it one day. (Not March since Stalker is coming out. Don't have time for 2 games lol)
Hovis 0 Posted March 14, 2007 I was really disappointed by the building garrisons. They are really good until the insta-kill garrison units appear. Flame tanks and grenadiers. Completely ruined that aspect of the game for me.
Commando84 0 Posted March 14, 2007 i think everything in the demo was great, it had some really nice stuff like garrison buildings. But seriously the nod flame soldiers can be easilly killed by gdi snipers and the flame tank cna be fended off by your tanks or air units or by some well entranched rocket soldiers. also did you knew you can upgrade the little pitbull buggies to shot mortar rounds too? and snipers togheter with the juggernaut artillery mechs are really incredible. Luciano 0 Posted March 14, 2007 The building garrison forces you to use new tactics like bombing raids. Plus the GDI has artilery. The cool thing is that soldiers can dig in and built foxholes. You can replace the foxhole infrantry with RPG guys and snipers. Pretty cool
-ZG-BUZZARD 0 Posted March 15, 2007 I'll say, it's gonna be a hit... and we've yet to try out the Nod side of it... Oh, and there seems to be an FPS underway too, using the Crysis engine, based in the C&C3TW timeline, same as C&C Renegade was based on the original Command 'n' Conquer RTS... Can't wait for that one!
Rhodite 3 Posted March 15, 2007 How does it compare to the mighty Supreme Commander?
Messiah 2 Posted March 15, 2007 I lost all faith in this franchise once westwood was bought up by EA. Loved the C&C series and Red Alert, but It just got tired and boring with generals. From what PC gamer says in its review, they're using a tired old engine and haven't progressed much in terms of gameplay at all.

Messiah 2 Posted March 15, 2007 same here - and the garrisoning buildings stuff was introduced back then, so its hardly original. it'll never be the same

I didn't like generals at all either, but I actually enjoy this one - it kinda feels more like the old ones. Would be nice if you could zoom a little more out, though-. berghoff 11 Posted March 15, 2007 After playing Company of Heroes and Supreme Commander :P C&C3 stands a bit in the shadow for me. But it does have cheesy mission briefings @ mission select screen

Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted March 15, 2007 Hehe, both are still standing in the shadow of Starcraft: Brood War.
Sdstorage 0 Posted March 15, 2007 The return of those cheesy FMVs now with Billy Dee Williams, Michael Ironside, and Tricia Helfer and Grace Park (from Battlestar Galactica) is worth the price of admission for me. The demo was pretty slick and polished, but didn't seem terribly innovative or original. Â I don't think it will beat the greatest RTS of all time (Starcraft: Broodwar) in terms of gameplay or story. but it'll still be a fun ride. Â This time with aliens! As a long time C&C fan, I'll be getting it for sure.
Messiah 2 Posted March 17, 2007 swallowed my pride and downloaded the demo. while it was fun for an hour or so, once I had built the base and set up a very large defence system, all that was left for me to do was the usual tank rush on their base and win. good fun for a while, but there's nothing new in there to make it last - its generals with a new set of kit, nothing more nothing less. Commando84 0 Posted March 19, 2007 c&c ownz star craft imo anyways,.. i'll be getting it by the end of the month for sure, btw have you tried the nod fanatics? They feel alot more powerfull than the gla suice bombers that was in generals whole lot more usefull since now they are in squads too and run alot faster too. Btw whats your favourite units + tactics?
Sdstorage 0 Posted March 20, 2007 I'm finding a group of Juggy's + a deployed Rig to be pretty unstoppable atm. Also, maybe it's just my affectation for OFP/ArmA, but I get a huge kick out of going all infantry. Then building foxholes at the bridge chokepoints and stacking them with rifle and rocket troops is pretty effective, as long as you can nail those Black Hand bastiches before they burn ya. Pitbulls with mortars are quick 'n deadly as well. Looking forward to this release.
Commando84 0 Posted March 31, 2007 btw anyone know how to do to make it through the Croatia mission in the gdi campaign im currently stuck there hard as hell wen they come from 4 directions all the time.. edited now , i actually beat the mission tonight, just rush out predator tanks and set the west and east side defenses on and fortify some riflemen in sandbag bunkers to protect from infantery attacks and then move up north quickl with tank army and wipe out all resistance and capture the nod construction yard in the north base with a enginner and tech up with nod and build a refinery in the north base and build some nod bomber aircraft when you get enough cash and attack the south east base and build a refinery there too or capture their base. and then use nod flame tanks or nod flame soldiers inside gdi apc's to clear out all the garrisoned building in the city to the west to clear a path to rescue the pinned down reinforcements. then bring the gdi mcv to your base and unpack it and clear out the nod base to the south west. i actually bombed out the nod baracks in that base before i rescued the mcv to my base but thats totally up to you how easy or hard you want the mcv rescue to be but after failing mission 15 times or so for all kinds of reasons from my base falling down to mcv reinforcements getting blow up by fanatics i took the safe way first
Colossus 2 Posted March 31, 2007 I'm going to the store right away to get my Kane version. Hopefully EA won't screw this one up. Â But they might already have because of THIS freakish thing.
Thunnder Bunny 0 Posted April 1, 2007 Not sure how I did it ,but I nabbed a Kane Edition on the 27th In the first 1000 with # 905 out of 100.000 Love the game, but hate the SCRIN! They seem extremely cheap in skirmish ....one of my favorite modes. Their ships can hang around and torment you till insanity, but the battle pods/bots are cool But ,I miss my walls and fences! It's getting hard to build my bottle necks / kill zones.... unless I use NOD. I can't give it a review on the story, cause I only played a lil of it so far. But it looks like 9/10 or better over all. Shashman 0 Posted April 2, 2007 I got Kane Edition today and I have to say, it's what I expected it to be: A prettier version of any of the previous C&Cs Same outfit, different style. Build refinery, power plants, barracks, war factory, defences, build up a force, repeat ad nauseum Also, why is it called kane Edition? Are there more than one edition to choose from, and if so, what's the difference?
Shadow NX 1 Posted April 2, 2007 Played the demo and it was quite nice ( for a demo that is ) but i dont think ill buy it. Back then i had to get every part of the series but since Generals not much good happend to the C&C series ( Generals is included int he no good things list offcourse ). All ive seen in the demo was standard, tankrushes most time the final solution especially when you can build mammoths but that seems to be in nearly all games. Graphics wise i was thinking long ago Act of War already looked better and was feeling lot smoother, i guess with a mod for it you could make a C&C clone that looks nearly as good as C&C 3. Hopefully the Red Alert series gets a revival at least, maybe i buy this one then Good game but nothing i need to have cause ive seen it all before.
4 IN 1 0 Posted April 2, 2007 i used to use silos to push my defence to most of the tactical advance point or bottleneck, they are cheap, they are fast and it wont hurt when they get destory, i wonder if this still works on the new game
