I think bulldozer is the controles you use in the editor to zoom in/out and move the view around on the map. I could be wrong, I usually am. yay.gif

Buldozer controls will be useful once model editing tools are released - addon makers will be able to use the game preview the models.

hmmm, by looking at the controls, it has stuff like press U to raise elevation 1m and press J to lower elevation 1m, and press F5 to magnetize points, and press T to view textures etc..

I guess this is defo used to make maps.. in game! lol this could be great ya kno.

No, just as was explained by Suma (OFP and ArmA dev team btw wink_o.gif ), Buldozer is the viewing program used in conjunction with o2, the 3d modelling program BIS devloped for OFP, so this Buldozer option in mission editor is a follow-up of that; using the game to view your work

buldozer was also the tool used for island/terrain viewing and modification. it presumably got it's name from this role, as it can raise and lower terrain points.

It seems that in ArmA, the game engine itself performs the buldozer role. I like it smile_o.gif

Hopefully that also means quick in-game preview/testing.

Would be much better than OFP where you have to copy the PBO and reload OFP.exe to test.

Whoa, that's not the way to work Gnat! In OFP you can define the config to point a wrp file in worlds directory (or anywhere for that matter). The wrp file is loaded into memory upon loading it in the mission editor, so a wrp file is over-writable while the game is running so long as it is not in a pbo.

In game, you load the new version by loading another island (eg desert island), then reloading yours. I ended up using 2 configs and a batch file that copied my latest version from my wrptool working folder into 2 different named wrp files in the worlds folder. (eg, rezinaA and rezinaB both appear on the islands menu, but are completely identical). This way you can load the latest version of your map in game in one quick step rather than two or more. It sounds more complicated than it is!

eg: my rezina addon's config

<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">...

class CfgWorlds

{

class DefaultWorld {};

class Intro : DefaultWorld {};

class CEEB_rezina : Intro

{

access = 3;

description = "Rezina";

icon = "\CEEB_rezina\_CEEB_rezina.paa";

//worldName = "..\worlds\CEEB_rezina.wrp";

worldName = "\CEEB_rezina\CEEB_rezina.wrp";

...

the commented out version will load the wrp from the OFP\worlds folder. The second config file is almost identical, just different world names and wrp file. You will never have to reload ofp, waste time creating pbos or reloading desert island 100 times. I hope that makes sense smile_o.gif

Thanks fasad, but I should have explained.

Yes, I'm aware of this for Island editing, but it doesn't work for Addon editing.

OFP, doesn't "release" the addon PBO once the game is running, and of course just because Buldozer is in ArmA, doesn't mean we can still Hot-Edit addons ......

Haven't heard away around this for OFP.

A real bulldozer that squishes everything from soldiers, cars, tanks all the way to buildings would rock. Please make one BIS! thumbs-up.gif

ah, I get you now Gnat. Maybe it is possible to leave p3d files outside pbos too???

Woodpeckersam, it seems that ArmA.exe can be used as a viewer component for the game modification tool. These tools have not been released, so at the moment you can't do anything other than change the options. If you have no interest in creating game content then buldozer will be of no interest to you.

Yeh I totally do lol, its whether i have the patience to learn it lol, and thats my prob.. i tried the stuff in OFP and only managed to be able to make basic animations and do scripting. But i might give this a shot, when the stuff comes out smile_o.gif

This obviously needs the a modeling editor to work *wink wink, nudge nudge*. Any news about that?
