heemle 0 Posted February 21, 2007 Hi, has anyone tried ArmA and Kegetys SoftTh and got it working properly? I got three monitors waiting idle. It works for me, but the right and left monitor get stretched out, so there is something wrong. Can this be corrected by some tweaking of the config? If you don't know what SoftTh is, check this page out Kegetys SoftTh ps. Sent a PM to the marvellous creator of the software and waiting for more ArmA content by him! max power 21 Posted February 21, 2007 They are stretched out because the renderer is only rendering one finite vanishing point, rather than an image through a lense onto a retina that is spheroid and has a surface area > 0. Such a high aspect ratio + view angle will always produce this effect. I don't think that it can be any different. edit: You may be able to reduce this effect by manually and uniformly changing the x and y values for your display adaptor, which will pull in your peripheral vision but will also severly limit the vertical aspect of your display! kegetys 2 Posted February 21, 2007 I'll reply here since it might help others too. If you have set the aspect ratio correctly from the video options then what you propably see is normal distortion when the 3D scene is projected onto the flat 2D display. In ArmA you can reduce it by reducing the total FOV with the fovTop and fovLeft settings in your armaProfile file. Also the latest public version might have some mouse problems with ArmA, I'll release a version with a fix for that once I'll get my primary video card back. OrLoK 20 Posted February 21, 2007 hmm interesting stuff, although ive not managed to get arma running on 2 screens so far. Ideally I'd like to be able to have a live map on one screen and std view on other. but6 i believe from previous posts, Its mighty difficult to implement. rgds LoK
Dwarden 1125 Posted February 21, 2007 oooh , very nice one Keygetys ... (i wonder hows possible i missed this one ) p.s. it should work with any Unreal based game (as you can define fov/res etc) ... p.p.s. will be possible to use X monitors (3+)?
kegetys 2 Posted February 24, 2007 I implemented some "cylindrical" correction for the distortion last night, it looks like this now (from OFP): http://www.kegetys.net/SoftTH/shots/softth_cylcorrection.jpg Top one is the original and bottom one has the correction. It causes some new type of distortions but I still think it looks better...
