What DO you like in ArmA?

Recommended Posts

i like how After youre done shooting people, you stop and look around and realize there is little puffy floaty things coming off of little white flowers and floating away in the wind, that blew my mind, all those little things like this that you dont see unless you stop for a few minutes.

- HDR (HIGH DYNAMIC RANGE)

It simply looks beatiful when the sun strikes your eyes, or

when standing under a tree in shadow and everything around

 is in sunlight.

I agree with you on everything except this, ok the sunlight looks nice, but turning around messes with your brightness in a ridiculous way and its annoying after playing for a while. (the only real reason for me to stop playing once i started, well, except for real life crap tounge2.gif )

This thread is dedicated to the things that YOU like in ArmA.

So if there is something you like, and you want to point out, then please feel free to do so. If there is something you don't like or you disagree with then please post in another thread.

I'm citing the first lines of this thread:

THIS TOPIC IS NOT INTENDED TO POST YOUR OPINION ABOUT WHAT YOU DON'T LIKE. THERE ARE ENOUGH TOPICS FOR THIS.

Wooah, dont hit me tounge2.gif

All i said was that i agreed with you on what i liked, except one thing (and i told what i didnt like to make it clear, the description 'i like everything you say except something i wont mention' is quite vague wink_o.gif )

Aside from the obvious standpoint of an addon maker, I really love the extra immersion this time around. For example, it scared the crap out of me when I was in fighting in an urban area and I heard enemies shouting orders and radio messages all around me, especially when I overheard the command to "engage that man" (me!wink_o.gif. crazy_o.gif

Also the island is just beautiful and the towns so interestingly designed, the HDR and the animal life make it so believable (I honestly got shot one time because I was distracted by this pretty butterfly floating around in front of me), and of course the same freedom we enjoyed in OFP to walk away from the fighting and just sit down on the beach, watching the sun set and the seaguls flying overhead and the waves on the water. inlove.gif Then a few long minutes later hopping back in the humvee and driving back into an intense heart pounding firefight.

Not much tbh!   confused_o.gif

However, if I have to pick some things I like, I guess I would say JIP and the graphics (only the look, not the performance).

I like everything but if I had to pick one thing above all else it would be the developers: BIS. Their dedication to quality and unique entertainment at the expense of creating hype-ee commercial fodder is commendable.

As I have said before, BIS has ruined my enjoyment of other games.

It is simply amazing... and fresh. AI seems work better almost in every aspect. North Sahrani is beautiful, just did some recon (sightseeign) along mountains. Forrests are truly nice (this is always most important aspect in maps to me... Being forrest-folk my self). I like everything in ArmA, even demanding flightmodel (have you ever tried choppersimulator named Hind? Boy that was hard)... hmm. I must be in love inlove.gif

Mounth or couple away i was whining about ArmA (but only a bit wink_o.gif ), but after getting used to demo... Had to have it. Love inlove.gif

I just played a mission which found me hiding in a building. I was wearing headphones and using a new Xfi SOuindcard. The sounds of people approaching looking for me were about as realistically scary as a game can get.  In those few minutes I was no longer in a game, I was in a situation trying to survive with my life.

Quite spectacular.

Love the way you can hear enemies and units not in your squad calling out commands, great immersion and implemented well with distance =)

Love the flight model too biggrin_o.gif much more fun than OFP... just takes a few hours getting used to it (which i also support)
