cls81 0 Posted January 4, 2007 Hi In this months pcgamer i read that there is something called ARMA: Combat Operations, release 2007. Is it an expansion? Or is it a mix up? When i googled it i found this. http://www.vbs2.com/site/index.html Im waiting for the game but i hear that the campaign is crap so im hope an expansion is on the way. Big Dawg KS 6 Posted January 4, 2007 Sounds like a mix up to me, or just a bunch of BS. If BIS were planning something they certainly would tell us, wouldn't they? Â Edit: And who cares about the campaign, that shouldn't determine wether or not you should buy the game, I mean I never even finished all the official OFP campaigns (though the story for Resistance was bitchin'. cls81 0 Posted January 4, 2007 The strange thing was that they had info on ARMA and ARMA: Combat Operations on the same page. And i found 5 min later that VBS2 is old news. Sorry
Bush 0 Posted January 4, 2007 http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=3i1k17.2.5 According to PCGsweden, ARMA: Combat Operations is the name of Game2.
wamingo 1 Posted January 5, 2007 (pure speculation) perhaps 505 or US publisher will put "Combat Operations" subtitle on arma on the EU or US release. They do that sometimes.
max power 21 Posted January 5, 2007 I like that name... ArmA: Combat Operations. I even like the idiosyncratic ArmA nickname. Armed Assault: Combat Operations sounds better to me than just Armed Assault. I think they should have called ArmA Combat Operations to begin with, although that alone sounds a little technical. Operation Flashpoint was quite a brilliant title. It's hard looking for an alternate. I even kind of like Status Quo.
dmakatra 1 Posted January 5, 2007 Yeah. Why didn't they go with Status Quo instead of ArmA? It fits so nicely with Operation Flashpoint, yet is still no violence to copyright. Anyway, Armed Assault: Combat Operations sound a bit too... militarisch for me, even for a sim. But whatever.

Me too, I wont buy it unless it's called something like 'Armed Assault: Why can't we be friends and live together in a teepee', no I like the sound of ArmA: Combat Operations very much. But hey I'll buy it as long as they don't call it BF3.
Col. Faulkner 0 Posted January 5, 2007 "Armed Assault: Combat Operations" sounds like something promulgated by the "Department of Redundancy Department" Â
Bush 0 Posted January 5, 2007 Its "ARMA: Combat Operations" not "Armed Assault: Combat Operations" Armed Assault is called "ARMA: Armed Assault" as you can see here. http://www.armedassault.com/index.html
Jack-UK 0 Posted January 5, 2007 Hmm i would have thought 'Game2' would not be prefixed with ArmA as its running Poseidon 2 and i would have thought it would run under a completely new title.. as ArmA is OFP engine with more optimization + better GFX... :S Sounds kinda like an expansion though "ArmA - Combat Operations" :S ooo mystery will BIS keep us dangling? Maddmatt 1 Posted January 5, 2007 Could be a planned expansion. Since Game 2 is only due for 2008, and we know how things like this get delayed, it would be nice if ArmA got an expansion.
