Oil machine burning

Help for the community:

From the 1st video of arma we can see some "crappy" burn smoke coming out from the extraction oil machines..

What do i need to do to make that effect for my new mission?

help would be appreciated.

example: ARMED ASSAULT E3 TRAILER

Just put about 10 lit fires inside the oil pump......did this with a jeep wreck....works pretty well! Will burn without stopping.

the problem is that in my mission those oil pumps must be turned off..

its not preatty good idea to put like 10 or 20 lit of "fire inflame true"

Speaking of oil pumps, is it possilbe to make it moving ?

(sorry for infiltrating your post wink_o.gif )

If it is somewhere is can't find it.

I'm pretty sure, that it should be possible to move it, as when you start a mission there you'll see it rotating for 180°.

Fireplace idea is obviously stupid.

Would the setdamage command work on the pumps? Look in the wiki. You could also de-pbo any mission that does that and have a look.

We need another big Fire Smoke Script that would be cool, tried to get one working myself but the scripting was too much for me.. crazy_o.gif

Best only way is if you can set pos a bus under the ground[if possible] and destroy it ^^ there ya go tounge2.gif

Edit1: Also That Picture you saw wasnt a oil pump on fire but a tank burning, but it looked as if the oil pump was on fire smile_o.gif but as you can see in my video its east to make, but it only lasts untill the fire goes out.

is that what you wanted?

Get an Empty Bus

Place over the oil pump

Add this into the Bus Init Field..

the bus fits perfect over the pump.

Destroy the pumps with the setdamage command, that should work.

I don't know which missions have that effect, I only have the demo. But as I said the setdamage scripting command should work.

the oil pumps must not be destroyed.. because i want to be able to turn off the fire/smoke wink_o.gif

also the pumps may/should move

im quite sure that the inflame true on the object would not work.. its would be too simple ^^

edit: to answer your help i tryed the bus with diff altitude

looks like the pump is damaged..

But i want it working and burning like in that movie: is it possible to have both things working at same time? whistle.gif

edit2: ups .. changed the altitude to -4

lo,

from the config they are animated = true so they should move allready .. what they do for one round and then stop

animationPhase returns allways 0 after the stop

(position player nearestObject 269) animate ["Vez_ropa_anim", 0 or 1]

does not do anything

and they are indestructable by config ..

guess its a thingy for the long grown list ..

Doest look like you can just using setdammage in the init field. Try making a script to create a vehicle like emptydetector and make a smoke/fire script. Maybe you can use a getdammage script then exec another script for smoke/flames. The buss under ground is kinda same thing except i think the explosion effects has a lifetime.
